The film was directed by Rob Marshall and the cast included Renée Zellweger, Richard Gere, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Chicago would subsequently be nominated for twelve Academy Awards and would receive six, including the Award for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Supporting Actress for Zeta-Jones.
