Gian Maria Volonté (April 9, 1933 – December 6, 1994) was an Italian actor. Outside of Italy he is known for his roles in Sergio Leone's A Fistful of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More. In Italy he was more notable for his roles in social drama movies. In 1990 Gian Maria Volonté was declared best European actor. In 1991 at the Venice Film Festival he won a Golden Lion.
