Airplane! (1980)

Airplane! is the 1980 comedy written and directed by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker, the same team responsible for the Police Squad! television series and The Naked Gun trilogy of films. Spoofing such airline disaster films such as Zero Hour! and the Airport films, Airplane! featured several actors who had only been cast in previous decades in serious roles, including Peter Graves, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, and Leslie Nielsen. Airplane II: The Sequel was released in 1982 without the participation of the original team.
