So, it turns out you can have a belt-fed AK-74. The experimental [https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/01/10/5-45x39-small-but-perfect-a-history-of-development/ SPU device] (scroll down a bit) allowed an AK--74 to use a belt feed by using the bolt handle to move the belt.
