The '''Ruger American Pistol''' (not to be confused with the [[Ruger American Rifle]]), is an American polymer-framed pistol manufactured by [[Ruger]]. It fires via a pre-tensioned striker and uses a Browning-style locked-breech short recoil action. The American Pistol also features a unique barrel cam that lessens movements of the slide to the rear when a round is fired, resulting in less felt recoil. A compact variant was introduced in 2016 and a competition variant with a longer barrel, ported slide, adjustable target sights, and a pre-tapped mount for optics was introduced in 2020. | |||
