Metropolis is a 1927 science fiction film that was one of the first movies directed by German director Fritz Lang (M, You Only Live Once, The Big Heat). It is also one of the very first in the science fiction genre and is one of the most expensive films of the time and is considered one of the most important works in film history.
The story is about the fictional city of Metropolis, the big city of the future, which is divided into two: while the rich live on the surface, the workers have to live underground. Freder, son of the ruler Johann Fredersen, goes to the "undercity" when he falls in love with Maria, the "saint of the oppressed". On behalf of the worried Fredersen, the inventor Rotwang creates a doppelganger of Maria, who is supposed to seduce the workers to revolt, in order to finally take away all their rights.
The following weapons were used in the film Metropolis:
Liliput pistol
Josaphat (Theodor Loos) tries to commit suicide with a Liliput pistol, but Freder (Gustav Frölich) convinces him not to do it.
Haenel-Schmeisser Model I Pistol
A rich man commits suicide with a Haenel-Schmeisser Model I Pistol.
