Alan Ladd (1913-1964) was an American actor well known for his role as the title character in the 1953 Western Shane. He also appeared in such films as This Gun for Hire and The Blue Dahlia. He also was the father of noted American movie executive Alan Ladd, Jr and movie producer/actor David Ladd.
