Native Shores (Rodnye berega) is a Soviet 1943 B&W war movie directed by Vladimir Braun and Nikolai Sadkovich. It consists of two segments, both of which take place in Summer 1942 on the Black Sea coast. In the first segment "Tri gvardeytsa" ("Three soldiers of Guard unit") a small group of Soviet soldiers is sent on commando mission in a German-occupied coastal town. The second segment, "Propavshiy bez vesti" ("Missing in action") depicts the adventures of the crew of Soviet motor torpedo boat that appears without fuel near the lighthouse that is now manned by Germans. Due to unclear reasons the movie was never released in USSR, only in mid-2000s it was found in Gosfilmofond Archive and released on DVD.
The following weapons were used in the film Native Shores (Rodnye berega):
Handguns
Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are carried by some of the crewmembers of the motor torpedo boat.
Tokarev TT-33
In several scenes Soviet officers are seen with pistols that are most likely TT-33s.
Luger P08
In one scene a German officer holds a Luger P08.
Submachine Guns
PPD-34/38
Some Soviet soldiers and officers, including the battalion commander (Ivan Pereverzev), carry PPD-34/38 SMGs.
PPD-40
Some Soviet soldiers and seamen carry PPD-40 SMGs.
PPSh-41
Sgt. Vasiliy Kustov (Daniil Sagal), Pvts. Pyotr Savkin (Anatoliy Nikitin) and Semyon Lyashenko (Andrey Miroshnichenko) are armed with PPSh-41 SMGs. In one scene PPD-34/38 in hands of the battalion commander (Ivan Pereverzev) switches to PPSh and then back to PPD.
Tokarev M1927
During the battle on the lighthouse a German soldier carries a gun that isn't seen clear but it's general outlook greatly resembles Tokarev M1927 submachine gun. It was an experimental weapon, chambered for 7.62mm Nagant cartridges. Tokarev SMG was never adopted for service but several hundred pieces were produced for extensive trials, so one of these guns could appear in the movie.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891/30
Many Soviet soldiers are armed with Mosin Nagant M1891/30 rifles.
Tokarev SVT-38
Some Soviet soldiers are armed with Tokarev SVT-38 rifles.
Tokarev SVT-40
Some Soviet soldiers are armed with Tokarev SVT-40 rifles.
Mauser Gewehr 98
Mauser Gewehr 98 rifles are seen in hands of German soldiers.
M98/29 Persian Mauser
In one scene Sofya Ivanovna (Faina Ranevskaya) holds a Mauser rifle, taken from a slain German soldier. It appears to be an M98/29 Persian Mauser, identified by the shape of the front sight and the sling swivel, placed unusually close to the muzzle end.
Mauser Rifles
Except for abovementioned Gewehr 98s, in several scenes German soldiers are seen with other Mauser-style rifles, often with attached sword bayonets. They are mostly seen unclear so the exact model is hard to be identified. Possibly there are several different models.
Machine Guns
Degtyaryov DP-27
Degtyaryov DP-27 machine guns are used by Soviet troops during the attack of the coastal town. All DP-27s, seen in the movie, lack their conical flash hiders, supposedly due to the problems when firing blank cartridges in full auto mode.
Degtyaryov DA
A single Degtyaryov DA machine gun is mounted on Soviet G-5-class motor torpedo boat. Twin DA-2 machine guns are mounted on MBR-2 hydroplanes.
Maxim M1910/30
Maxim M1910/30 (or possibly Maxim M1910) machine guns are used by Soviet troops.
MG34
German troops use MG34 machine guns in several scenes. They are mostly mounted on tripods.
MG08/15
During the battle for the town a machine gun is used by German soldiers. It appears to be a 1930s modification of Maxim MG08/15, fitted with a fore mounted bipod.
Other Weapons
RGD-33 Hand Grenades
RGD-33 hand grenades are used by Soviet soldiers and seamen. German soldiers also use RGD-33 grenades instead of correct Model 24 Stielhandgranate.
RM-38 Mortar
During the commando mission Sgt. Vasiliy Kustov (Daniil Sagal) fires a 50-mm RM-38 Mortar.
7.5 cm Pak 97/38
During the battle in the town German soldiers use a 7.5 cm Pak 97/38 AT gun.
