Weekend at Dunkirk (original title Week-end à Zuydcoote) is a 1964 French war drama directed by Henri Verneuil and based on the novel "Weekend at Zuydcoote" by Robert Merle. It depicts two days of Dunkirk evacuation, seen through the eyes of a French soldier Julien Maillat (Jean-Paul Belmondo).
The following weapons were used in the film Weekend at Dunkirk:
Handguns
Mle 1892 Revolver
In one scene a French officer (François Guérin) is seen with a Mle 1892 Revolver. In another scene Julien Maillat (Jean-Paul Belmondo) uses a revolver to save Jeanne (Catherine Spaak) from rapists.
Ruby Pistol
Sgt. Julien Maillat (Jean-Paul Belmondo) carries a Ruby Pistol.
Walther P38
Two German paratroopers (Christian Melsen and Rolph Spath), disguised as nuns, are armed with Walther P38 pistols.
Rifles
Lebel Mle 1886
Most French soldiers, including Pierson (Jean-Pierre Marielle) and Alexandre (François Périer), are armed with Lebel Mle 1886 rifles.
Berthier Mle 1916 Carabine
Some French soldiers are armed with Berthier Mle 1916 Carabines.
Berthier Rifle
A Berthier rifle is seen in hands of a French soldier in one scene. It's hard to identify the exact model while Mle 1907-15 seems to be the most reasonable guess.
MAS-36
MAS-36 rifles are seen in hands of French and British soldiers (in the latter case it is due the shortage of SMLE rifles).
Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*
British soldiers are armed with Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III*. Due to the shortage of real SMLE rifles some of them carry dummy rifles with little resemblance to real ones (see below).
SMLE Mockup
Some British soldiers carry dummy rifles that bear little resemblance to real SMLE.
Machine Guns
Chatellerault M1924/29
Pinot (Georges Géret) is armed with a Chatellerault M1924/29 machine gun and uses it in several scenes. Some other French soldiers also carry M24/29 machine guns.
Hotchkiss Mle 1914
Hotchkiss Mle 1914 machine guns are seen in several scenes.
Other Weapons
F1 Hand Grenade
In one scene Sgt. Julien Maillat (Jean-Paul Belmondo) uses an F1 hand grenade to detonate a German shell.
Mortar
81-mm mortars are seen in one scene. It's hard to say if they are original French Brandt Mle 1927/31s or their American relatives M1s.
Trivia
75-mm Canon de 75 Mle 1897 and 1897/33
Numerous abandoned French 75-mm field cannons are seen on the beach. Most of them are fitted with pneumatic wheels so they appear to be Mle 97/33, a modified version of famous "French 75".
155-mm Canon de 155 C Mle 1917
Some 155-mm howitzers Mle 1917 are also seen on the beach.
Renault FT17
An abandoned Renault FT17 tank can be seen on the beach.
Renault R40
An abandoned Renault R40 tank can be seen on the beach. It differ from earlier R35 as it is armed with a 37-mm cannon with longer barrel.
