Kotovsky is a Soviet 1942 biopic about the life of Grigory Ivanovich Kotovsky, an outlaw turned revolutionary and one of the prominent commanders of the Red Army during the Russian Civil war. The movie is directed by Aleksandr Faintsimmer.
The following weapons were used in the film Kotovsky:
Revolvers
Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model
Grigory Kotovsky (Nikolai Mordvinov) carries a pair of Smith & Wesson No.3 Russian Model revolvers when he leads a gang of outlaws in mid 1900s. An S&W No.3 Russian Model is also seen in hands of a Russian officer in the same scene.
Nagant M1895
Nagant M1895 revolvers are seen in several scenes, used by Grigory Kotovsky (Nikolai Mordvinov) and his outlaws in mid 1900s, and by Red Army commanders and commissars, including Commissar Yefim Kharitonov (Vasili Vanin) and Kotovsky's second-in-command Kabanyuk (Nikolay Kryuchkov).
Pistols
Mauser C96
During the Russian civil war Kotovsky (Nikolai Mordvinov) carries a Mauser C96 pistol in wooden holster.
Ruby-style Pistol
When Kotovsky, being a chief of outlaws in mid 1900s, makes a raid on Karakozen Sr.'s estate, Karakozen Jr. (Mikhail Astangov) fires a pistol that appears to be a member of vast family of Ruby Pistols. Same looking pocket pistol is seen in hands of a White Army officer (Mikhail Grodskiy) in the scene, set in Odessa in 1918.
Unidentified pistol
An unidentified pistol is briefly seen in hands of a Romanian officer during the battle in 1918.
Submachine Guns
MP40
During the attack of Imperial German troops on Red Army positions one of German soldiers holds an incredibly anachronistic MP40 submachine gun.
Rifles
Mosin Nagant M1891
Red Army soldiers are mostly armed with Mosin Nagant M1891 rifles. M91s are also seen in hands of Imperial German and Romanian soldiers.
Mosin Nagant M1907 Carbine
When Russian cavalrymen pursue for Kotovsky and his outlaws, several of them are armed with Mosin Nagant M1907 Carbines. These guns are slightly out of time as the scene is set in about 1905.
Mosin Nagant "Obrez"
A Mosin Nagant sawn-off "obrez" is carried by one of Kotovsky's orderlies.
Karabinek wz.29
Imperial German soldiers are mostly armed with carbine-lengh Mauser rifles. They appear to be Polish Karabinek wz.29 rifles that often seen in Soviet movies, filmed by TsOKS in 1942-1944.
Mauser Gewehr 1898
Some German soldiers are armed with Mauser Gewehr 1898 rifles.
Mannlicher M1895
German soldiers also use Mannlicher M1895 rifles.
Shotguns
Double Barreled Shotgun
In the opening scene Karakozen Jr. (Mikhail Astangov) goes hunting with a Double Barreled Shotgun.
Mosin Nagant/Frolov Shotgun
When Russian cavalrymen pursue for Kotovsky and his outlaws, some of them are armed with long guns that appear to be Mosin Nagant/Frolov Shotgun ("Frolovka") shotguns.
Machine Guns
Maxim M1910
Maxim M1910 machine guns are seen in several scenes.
Maxim M1910/30
An anachronistic Maxim M1910/30 is used by German soldiers during the battle against Red troops.
Maxim M/32-33
In the same scene German troops also use an anachronistic Finnish Maxim M/32-33 machine gun.
Other Weapons
RG-14 Hand Grenade
Doctor Olga (Vera Maretskaya) uses RG-14 (or RG-14/30) hand grenades aganist German soldiers when she defends wounded and unconscious Kotovsky.
