Blood Brothers is a 2007 action film written and directed by Alexi Tan, produced by John Woo and Terrence Chang starring Daniel Wu, Ye Liu, Qi Shu, Tony Yang, and Chen Chang. Tan did not write or speak Mandarin fluently, so his script was initially written English and then translated. Fight choreography was done by longtime John Woo collaborator Philip Kwok.
The following weapons were used in the film Blood Brothers (2007):
Revolvers
Colt Trooper
Mark (Chen Chang) uses a nickel-plated Colt Trooper with a 6-inch barrel for much of the film. Its presence is an anachronism, as this film takes place in the 1930s and the Trooper wasn't introduced until 1953.
Ruger Super Redhawk
In a continuity error, Mark's Colt Trooper turns into a Ruger Super Redhawk with custom faux ivory grips in some scenes. We're not even really sure how that happens, the two guns couldn't look much more different, but this gun, too, is anachronistic on top of that. This film takes place in the 1930s and the Ruger Super Redhawk did not even exist until *1987* (!)
Smith & Wesson Model 10
Smith & Wesson Model 10s are seen throughout the film. Wow! We finally get a gun that existed when this film takes place.
Webley Mk V
Da Gang uses a Webley Mk V to intimidate a rival gangster. This is one of the only weapons in the film that could have possibly been used when it takes place.
Pistols
Browning Hi-Power
Da Gang (Ye Liu) hands Ah Feng (Daniel Wu) a Browning Hi-Power during their first heist. Xiao Hu (Tony Yang) later uses one in a shootout. Several henchmen are seen using Hi-Powers as well. These pistols were probably produced by Inglis for a contract with the Nationalist Chinese government. Its presence is probably an anachronism.
M1911A1
M1911A1s are seen throughout the film. Ah Feng uses one in the final shootout. This is one of the only weapons in the film that could have possibly been used when it takes place.
Colt MK IV Series 80
Ah Feng hands Mark a 9mm Colt MK IV Series 80 during their escape. Since 9mm 1911s did not yet exist in the 1930s, its presence is, too, an anachronism.
Beretta 92FS
A henchman is seen with a Beretta 92FS in the final shootout. Its presence is definitely an anachronism, since this gun was not designed until 1984! This is possibly an airsoft replica provided by Hong Kong production.
Shotguns
Winchester Model 1897
Ah Feng uses a Winchester Model 1897 to start the final shootout. This is one of the only weapons in the film that could have possibly been used when it takes place.
Submachine Guns
M1A1 Thompson
M1A1 Thompson submachine guns are seen in the hands of henchmen. As the M1A1 is a wartime design, its presence is an anachronism. Shocker there.
Sten Mk II
Da Gang's first heist involves stealing a crate of Sten Mk IIs. Mark later takes one off of a henchman in the final shootout. As the Sten is a 1940s design, its presence is, believe it or not, an anachronism.
