Robert Guillaume (1927-2017) was an American actor who perhaps was best known for his role as Benson DuBois in the television sitcom Soap and its subsequent spinoff Benson, for which he was the first African-American actor to receive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In addition, he provided the voice for the character of Rafiki in the 1994 animated film The Lion King and appeared in such films as Lean on Me, Death Warrant and Big Fish.
