The No. 79 Smoke Grenade was used by the Commonwealth Forces in WW2. The grenade used the "Allways" impact fuze meaning that as soon as the grenade hit the ground, the fuze would detonate. The body of the grenade is made of tinplate. This type was introduced for situations where incendiary smoke grenades could not be used and it could be used much closer to own troops.
