Bates Motel is the television adaptation of the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock-directed film Psycho. Set several years prior to the events of the film, the series followed a young Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) as he tries to deal with a mental illness while living with his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga).
