	''Gardens of Stone'' was released in the Spring of 1987 to just 612 theaters across the United States. I was a freshman at Boise State University that spring and saw it in the local theater in Boise. I guess the movie enjoyed a fairly wide release in Idaho ~~becasue~~ Idaho is known to be a politically and socially conservative state. 	I don't know if the comment about the M16 being issued by 68 is relevant. MANY honor guards stateside had a wide latitude as to what they used and MOST used (and some still use) the classic wooden stocked rifles, both the M14 and the M1 Garand. Sure I've seen the M16 used in ceremonies, but the milspec blanks issued with them are really pathetically weak. Milspec .308 and 30-06 blanks are many times preferred when a large crowd is expected and you want them to actually hear the rifles. As a side note, I once provided blank adapted weapons to an honor guard unit who had a lot of experience with US issued M16s with the wimpy military blanks. Of course I provided the super hot FULL FLASH blanks. WHen they fired, they all JUMPED and a senior officer came running "Are you guys firing LIVE rounds?!?!?!!" hahahahaha. 			:I put the reference to the M16 being issued Army wide by 1968 to head off the inevitable poster who might feel the need to post his comment on the page about how the movie is obviously wrong because by 1968 the M16 blah blah blah. I saw the Berlin Brigade Honor Guard in 94. It was probably one of their last appearances since the Brigade rolled it's flag in 95.
