Having looked into it, I think the tank is more likely to be the visually similar Centaur IV, rather than a Cromwell, based on the fact that film was shot in Portugal, and according to Wikipedia the country obtained around 24 Centaur IVs in 1945. Certainly the square profile muzzle break matches [https://www.flickr.com/photos/passe-par-tout/5333823891/in/photostream/ this preserved Centaur on display in Lisbon], one of six surviving vehicles in the country. The Portuguese Centaurs were replaced with the M-47 Paton in 1955, so one would easily have been available for the filming.
