G.U.N operatives are seen using a fictional energy-based weapon when confronting Dr. Robotnik. Presumably these weapons are standard-issue in G.U.N as no other soldiers are seen holding more conventional contemporary firearms such as the [[M4A1]] carbine as seen in the previous film. None are fired during the film however, making it difficult to discern how the weapon system supposedly functions.
