'''''Gilberte de Courgenay''''' is a 1941 Swiss movie directed by Franz Schnyder and is about the Swiss woman Gilberte Montavon from Courgenay in the canton of Bern (today the canton of Jura), who became a patriotic cult figure. The film is considered one of the best films that the Swiss spiritual national defence has produced. In the winter of 1915/16, ''Artilleriebatterie'' 38 took up quarters in Courgenay. Initially thinking that by Christmas the war would be over and the army would be demobilized again, the men were disappointed not to be able to celebrate Christmas with their families. Gilberte, the innkeeper's daughter of the Hôtel de la Gare, organizes a Christmas party for these men and quickly becomes the idol of the soldiers.<br />
