Bob Denver (January 9, 1935 - September 2, 2005) had a career in film and television spanning 40 years. He gained popularity with his character Maynard Krebs in the television show ''The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis'', which led to roles in film and several popular television shows. His most notable character was Gilligan in the television sitcom ''[[Gilligan's Island (TV Series)|Gilligan's Island]]''. The popularity of the show resulted in 3 feature-length films, 2 animated spinoffs, and guest appearances on television shows for 30 years. The show is still broadcast in syndication in the USA.
