'''''Alpine Ballad''''' (''Alpiyskaya ballada'') is a 1966 (filmed 1965) Soviet B&amp;amp;W war drama directed by Boris Stepanov and based on the novel by [[Vasil Bykov]]. During the WWII, a Nazi factory in the Austrian Alps where Soviet POWs work is bombed at night. Ivan Tereshka ([[Stanislav Lyubshin]]), one of the prisoners who make a break, hides in the mountains. There he meets an Italian girl Julia ([[Lyubov Rumyantseva]]) who also escaped from captivity. They spend several days in the Alps. However, the Germans overtake the fugitives, and Ivan helps Julia to escape and perishes in the battle.&lt;br /&gt;
