I think we should rename this article "Makarov pistol". PM is an acronym of "Pistolet Makarova" (literally "Makarov pistol"), so calling it "Makarov PM" is redundant and is analogous to saying "Makarov pistol Makarov". This same mistake is often made with the Dragunov sniper rifle. SVD is also an acronym (meaning "Dragunov sniper rifle", translated), so "SVD Dragunov" is incorrect for the same reason. --[[User:MattyDienhoff|MattyDienhoff]] 04:26, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

Why can't we just go with "Makarov" or "Dragunov?" It's accurate (unlike Schmeisser) and they're the only guns known by those names (unlike "Browning" or "Springfield.") If this was russian site name would be like пистолет Макарова(ПМ), but in English Pistol Makarov or Makarov's Pistol just don't sound right. So leave it as it is.
