The .44 Auto Mag Pistol has a long and strange history. The Original company AMC (Auto Mag Company) or AMP (Auto Mag Pistol) had a controversial start and the gun was assembled and sold through a variety of different companies (or variations of the same company) between 1971 and 1982. AMC/AMP went bankrupt in 1972 due to really unsound business practices, and other companies continued making or assembling the weapon for another 10 years with varying degrees of success. But ultimately all production of the weapon stopped in 1982. The version most commonly seen (at least in chains of U.S. 'used gun' commerce) is the AMT .44 Automag, which is the 8th incarnation of the weapon (built in Covina, CA and assembled in Irwindale, CA). The .44 Automag was given a brief bit of glory when it was featured in the 1983 Clint Eastwood Movie Sudden Impact but that didn't revive any attempts to bring the gun back into production.

AMT (Arcadia Machine and Tool) was one of the followup companies that tried to resurrect the Auto mag Pistol (While the name Automag was used the designs had very little to do with the origional Auto Mag handgun). AMT manufactured the Automag II in .22 WMR, Automag III in .30 Carbine, Automag IV in .45 Winchester Magnum and Automag V in .50 Action Express. AMT also made a Baby Auto Mag chambered for .22LR.
Glock 22
<!--This is visibly confirmed to be a Glock 22, not a 21 as previously believed. See the discussion for more info-->

The standard handgun in Grand Theft Auto IV is visibly a second generation Glock 22. It is the standard issue police sidearm and is used by all law enforcement agents as well as many other characters throughout the game. Though it's difficult to discern this detail in-game, looking at the weapon's texture close up reveals the number "22" on the slide, confirming that it is a Glock 22, despite it's 17 round magazine (incorrect for the caliber). In addition, the front sights on the weapon are a mirror image of the rear sights, which is obviously incorrect. It is also the primary gun a vigalante will use when attacking the player.

IMI Desert Eagle
The .357 Magnum Desert Eagle, called a 'Combat Pistol' in the game, is the more powerful handgun in GTA IV, and is used by a variety of characters throughout the game.

Shotguns
Ithaca 37 "Stakeout"
The Ithaca 37 "Stakeout", appears as the "Pump Shotgun". It is used by various gang members and by some LCPD, N.O.O.S.E. and FIB officers. For some reason, the in-game clone has a side mounted ejection port, instead of a bottom loading/ejection port that all Ithaca 37 shotguns are fitted with in real life. Also, the in-game clone can hold 8 shells, four more than its real-life counterpart. Packie McReary uses one during the bank robbery in "Three Leaf Clover" before switching to his AK47, Packie's friend Gordon King uses one during the mission "Waste Not Want Knots". Biker vigilantes also use this.

Remington 11-87
The Remington 11-87 semi-auto appears as the "Combat Shotgun", it becomes available later in the game, and can be obtained from LCPD patrol cars despite the fact that the cops themselves actually use the Pump Shotgun when prevoked. The in-game version can hold 10 shells, two more than it's real-life counterpart. It also has a fancy thumbhole stock, barrel ribbing, and a bayonet mount. In "The Lost and Damned", there are two versions of this particular weapon avaliable. The first is the thumbhole stocked version from the original game which is avaliable for purchase from Terry's gun van, and normal weapon shops. The second version is fitted with a carbine retractable stock, pistol grip, and picatinny rail. This version seems to be an easter egg, and has to be found in certain locations, such as the apartment building in the mission "Buyers Market". This version also appears in one of the trailers.

Submachine Guns
IMI Micro Uzi
The Micro Uzi is used by many criminals in Liberty City. The weapon has a large magazine capacity of 50 rounds (even though the magazine's dimensions match those of a 32 round magazine) and a high rate of fire, but is somewhat lacking in accuracy and range. Jacob uses one twice in the game, first during the "Russian Revolution" level, and later brandishes one in the later levels of the game.

SW MP-10
The MP-10 is standard issue for LCPD N.O.O.S.E. teams and is also used by some gang members. It has a smaller magazine capacity (30 rounds) than the Micro SMG, but is more accurate and has a somewhat longer effective range.

Assault Rifles
AK-47
The AK-47 is used almost entirely by criminals in the City. This is NOT the AKM, as evidenced by lack of muzzle brake and the stock, which is angled downward compared to an AKM. It is seen many times throughout the game, provided in some missions and brandished by many different characters.

M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 Carbine is issued to LCPD N.O.O.S.E teams, prison guards, and select officers guarding public places such as subway stations and the airport, and appears to have the carry handle removed and has only a stick-up rear sight. Niko uses an M4A1 when he helped the McReary gang rob the Bank of Liberty in the mission "Three Leaf Clover".

Sniper Rifles
Remington 700
The basic bolt action sniper rifle featured in the game is the Remington 700. It is used by the majority of marksmen in the game. The gun appears to have undergone slight customization, with a 10 round magazine fitted, yet only holds 5. Niko uses one in one level to cover Packie during a drug deal gone wrong, and later he uses one when he hits a construction site with Playboy X.

Heckler & Koch PSG-1
The semi automatic sniper rifle is a PSG-1. Pinpoint accuracy, but very expensive in the game. Holds 10 rounds.

Heavy Weapons
RPG-7
The RPG-7 is the only rocket launcher in the game. Niko uses it during several missions.
Miscellaneous
M26A1 Grenade
The M26 hand grenade has a 5 second fuse from pin release. After 3 seconds, an audible alarm beep is sounded.

Molotov Cocktails
Rudimentary spirit bottles with a rag. Set alight when equipped. Amusingly, Niko does not extinguish the rag before putting them inside his jacket when switching weapons.

CZ 75 Automatic
The game's version of this weapon is a CZ 75 Automatic, the machine pistol version of the CZ 75 pistol. It holds 17 rounds, and is reffered to as an "Automatic 9mm". It is introduced in the mission "Bad Cop Drop". It is very accurate, and has a very high firing rate, but it isn't that powerful. The game's Glock 22 even seems to do more damage than this pistol.

Sawn-off double barreled shotgun
This sawed-off 12 Gauge Double Barreled Shotgun is called the "Sawed off Shotgun" in the game. It is the first weapon that you are equiped with at the start. It can be fired while riding on a Motorcycle, but can't be used in other types of vehicles. Reguardless, it is the only shotgun in the series so far that can be fired from a vehicle. Unlike the other shotguns in the game, this shotgun has an acurate ammo capacity, as it holds only two shells. On a bike, this weapon is very effective, as it can take down almost any target in no time. On foot, it has a very wide range, but a very slow firing rate due to it's small ammo capacity. A good weapon to have, but it can't compare to the game's Street Sweeper.
The SWD / Cobray Street Sweeper is called an "Assault Shotgun" in the game, but is also referred to as "Street Sweeper" by characters. It holds 8 shells, and is fully automatic, with an extremly high firing rate. It can dispatch of ememies, and vehicles in no time, and aparently has the ability to take down helicopters as well. It is introduced in the mission "Heavy Toll", but is notably used during the mission "Shifting Weight".

The Heckler & Koch HK69A1 40mm Launcher is called the "Grenade Launcher" in the game. It can be used to bounce grenades off walls, and corners in a similar fashion to the RPG. It is introduced in the mission "Action/Reaction". It is very effective, but sometimes overshoots your intended target. Though it fires one grenade at a time, up to 20 can be held in reserve.
The FN P90, called "Assault SMG" is found early in the game. It is outfitted with a silencer and despite using the armor-piercing 5.7x28mm ammo in real life, it still shares ammo with the three other SMGs. It's the only SMG unable to be used in drive-bys.
Grand Theft Auto IV
Handguns

AMP Auto Mag Model 180
After being attacked by the group of assassins in the mob, Insp. Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is inspired to take out his old pistol, an AMP Auto Mag Model 180 chambered in .44 AMP. When his Smith & Wesson Model 29 is kicked off of a dock by Mick (Paul Drake), he replaces it with his Auto Mag for the remainder of the film. The production crew had a very difficult time aquiring this gun to the point where they had to contact the original designer, who had enough parts in his basement to build two guns for the film. The first was left in live firing mode so Clint Eastwood could shoot it and accurately depict recoil while the second was converted to fire blanks for the film. The gun's serial numbers were "Clint1" and "Clint2".
[[Image:DH4AutoMag-1.jpg|thumb|none|600px|Callahan takes his AMP Auto Mag Model 180 out of its case. Note how the magazines are loaded with six rounds instead of the full eight. ==Colt Detective Special==
Jennifer Spencer (Sondra Locke) uses a nickel plated 3rd Generation Colt Detective Special as her weapon of choice to get revenge on the people that raped her and her sister long ago. Later in the film we see Mick (Paul Drake) use her gun to kill Police Chief Jannings (Pat Hingle). The barrel diameter indicates that it is a .44 special instead of a .38 special.
Remington 7600
A Remington 7600 pump action rifle is seen in the hands of Mrs. Wilburn, who points it at Insp. Callahan (Clint Eastwood), though she doesn't fire it, and instructs him to leave her fish market after he starts beating her brother George (Michael Maurer).
Beretta 92SB
Ray Parkins (Audrie J. Neenan) shows off her personal protection Tyrone's (Wendall Wellman) hardware store, a Beretta 92SB tucked in her waist "Mexican carry" style. It is assumed to be the 92SB because the earlier Beretta 92 variants had a butt-mounted magazine release and the Beretta 92F didn't exist yet, leaving only the 92SB.
Browning Buckmark
An assassin tries to kill Insp. Callahan (Clint Eastwood) in his apartment with a Browning Buckmark pistol fitted with a suppressor, but trips on his dog Meathead, giving Callahan time to draw his Smith & Wesson Model 29 and kill him.

The Buckmark was not produced until 1985, and this film was released in 1983. I can't tell from these photo what else it might be (though it looks like I see an ejection port and slide, and it looks like might be a supressed Hi-power to me) will have to dig out the DVD. -J3
Colt Trooper
San Paulo patrolman, Officer Bennett (Mark Keyloun) tries to fire his Colt Trooper at the bank robber but is injured before he can fire off a shot. Later, one of Mick's (Paul Drake) thugs is seen shot in the head by Insp. Callahan (Clint Eastwood) while holding a Colt Trooper belonging to Horace King (Albert Popwell) from his holster.

Molotov Cocktail
The jocks who are insulted by Insp. Callahan (Clint Eastwood) in the elevator try to burn his car with Molotov Cocktails, one of which burns the back of his car while the other one fails to shattter. Callahan then parks his car over and uses the unbroken Molotov to burn their car and causes them to crash into the river.
