I would recommend not opining about price or availability of guns unless you know for sure
I get thinking when I hear remarks like "that's a rare gun" or "That's an expensive Gun" or "that's a much cheaper gun". I think to myself, "That's a rare gun NOW, but they were a commonplace back in the 1970s and 1980s". That's an age issue. Youngsters tend to only know what's true for the marketplace right NOW, not years ago. Also I would recommend NOT making commentary about availability and pricing because people with only gun knowledge of the present day cannot make credible commentary about gun availability and pricing when the movie was made. The thing about older members is that they tend to remember what was available and what they paid for guns back in the 1980s or 1990s. I still have editions of SHOTGUN news from 1983-1989. Judging from the distributor ads, I remember what was really cheap and plentiful at certain points in time. I've had to argue with people in the past regarding weapons availability when their only knowledge is guesswork based on what's true today. == Vincent's firearm safety ==

Is it so bad because of his heroin habit ? Also his behavior such as hanging around a place without checking the other rooms first etc ?

I think it has to do with his lack of proper firearms training. And he also just got out of the bathroom, not just showed up.

When he's reading that book, Vincent is totally oblivious to anything going on, as evidenced when he's in the bathroom at the diner and doesn't hear the robbery go down until later. So it makes sense that he didn't realize that Butch had come into the house. --Ben41 08:51, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I think he's talking about the apartment near the start when he never checked the rooms and ended up almost being shot by the guy with the revolver.

well he is clearly untrained because if he was , marvin would still have a face . not to mention , when he is in the bathroom , in both butches house
and the diner , he is unaware of events going on out side . i believe its the fact that he is trained , but not higly . simmons 8492

: I'd say his firearms training (character, not actor) was on a par with most crooks. He knows there is a right end and a wrong end of a gun. He knows pulling the trigger makes it go <bang!>. But the character knows very little about safe handling practices. However, he is willing to shoot other people without any second thought. As for the MAC-10 in the apartment, peeing into a toilet bowl in a small bathroom can be noisy enough to mask other sounds, such as someone entering the apartment and finding the SMG left on the kitchen counter top. And anyway, where are going to put the thing when you're taking a wizz? Wraith

Armor Piercing 9mm rounds
Reading this article got me to thinking again about Armor Piercing 9mm rounds. I'm guessing they're talking about the 7N31 or 7N21 rounds developed in Russia. You can read about it here http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg61-e.htm. Are there any military forces that use this type of ammunition, or is it still in the trial phase, or nobody just uses it? Also, even though yes, it is a 9mm, would it work in any 9mm gun or is there any type of special modifications needed to use the round? Thoughts? --Gunkatas 20:28, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
::Armor-piercing 9x19mm ammunition is used by defense agencies to test armor for effectiveness. The 7N21 rounds are over-pressure rounds combining the 9x19mm Parabellum case dimensions with the bullet design of the 9x21mm Gyurza ammunition; a high-pressure load combined with a tempered-steel core bullet. It is the standard ammunition used in the Yarygin PYa, MR-443 Grach which is the Russian military sidearm. The Gyurza was designed for use in the SR-2 Veresk, a Russian compact SMG which I believe was developed for special operations and police use. Atypicaloracle

Pictures 1 and 2 in the 92FS section
These aren't the same gun. You can clearly see on the slide that the first gun has slots in the slide for the safety whereas the second, when Riggs is demonstrating the armor-piercing ammo, is smooth across. However, in some of the later scenes it seems to switch back.

Picture 3 in the 92FS section
In the picture where Mel Gibson is holding a Beretta and his badge, that is most certainly not his normal Beretta. It's definitely a Inox model. Acora 07:24, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

- No way. The end of the gun in that screencap is clearly not stainless. The daylight hitting the rest of the gun makes it look a bit brighter on that particular picture, but it's still his regular Beretta, and not a stainless Inox - It has the proper blued-steel 'black' look in alternate angles during that same sequence. Travis's Model 29 is stainless, shouldn't it be a 629 then?
I assumed thats what a 629 is. Same goes for the 586 and 686.

- The 629 and 686 are the stainless versions of the blue-steel 29 and 586 respectively, yes. However, that is not the case here. More lighting tricks I'm afraid. Seems to be common on this film (or at least, on the the screenshots for this page). Both revolvers Travis uses are blue-steel guns, and not stainless. On the pictures of the 29, the light gives it a shine that makes it appear stainless. But the gun is certainly a regular Model 29 - It's more obviously shown as a 'black' blue-steel gun throughout the rest of the film..

The 586, however, is even more obviously a blue steel gun - It's not as silver as Capt Murphy's (Kahan's) Model 60, as shown in this pic -

Shotgun
(Edit) You can't identify a shotgun via the barrel. Barrels are easily changed between models ie the Mossy 500 and the 590 etc. You need to look at the receiver of the shotgun in question ie the loading/ejection port/bolt/rivets/pins/trigger guard/safety etc etc etc. Come on, guys, this is basic stuff. The shotgun used in that truck scene is a plain old pistol grip Mossberg 500 with an 18.5" barrel. The one used in that gunshop scene in the second pic is a shorty Remington 870. Tucker's shotgun switched back and forth from a Mossberg 500 to an 870 continually. There is nothing even close to an Ithaca 37 in that movie. The Ithaca 37 is a bottom ejecting pump....the ones used in the film all clearly had ejection ports.

In addition Micheal takes a simmilair looking weapon from the gunstore, although he is never shown fireing it. Cj takes this gun after Tuckers death, and ultimately somehow Terry gets ahold of it, and can be seen fireing it from the bus during the escape.

Ruger SP-101
I think it might be a nongun also, if you look closely you can see that the bore does not align with the cylinder very well. -User:AdAstra2009

I think this is the model 10 .38 special with a heavy barrel. I think so because when they are stocking up on ammo in the gun store he checks it and says it uses .38s. I know that .357s can fire .38s but if it was a .357 it would say so on the gun.
Bart's revolver
I got to say that bart's revolver is more than likely a S&W model 10 with a heavy barrel. During the scene in andy's gunshop
while CJ and Bart are grabbing ammo. CJ asks bart what caliber he needs, Bart clearly calls out ".38". Why CJ didn't know that is
anyones guess.
- That wasn't Bart. It was Terry. Bart was the 1st survivor to die. and if you watch the movie with subtitles on, you can hear him say .357 so yes, it is a Model 13

It could be either or because they ask for both ammo types, and they have a Model 19 snub too as well as a possible dozen of other .357 caliber weapons, because they are in a gun store. It has to be a Model 13 though or else it hadn't been loaded in nearly every scene it was pointed at someone, as it's not used but it still deters people when it's aimed at them, even people like CJ who would know whether or not it was empty. --Yournamehere 03:42, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
Also are y'all sure that ejector shroud on the Model 27 from DOD is wrong? == Armor Piercing 9mm rounds ==

MAC-10
During the section discussing the MAC-11/9 the author seems to imply that because the weapon is chambered for 9mm it cant be the MAC-10. I am not contesting the author's identification as he gives multiple distingishing features, however his statement "It is even stated that the weapon is a 9mm" does not aid this identification as the MAC-10 has varients chambered for 9mm as well.

== Smith & Wesson 629? ==

As is the norm in many movies these days, this weapon appears as a stand in for the MAC-10, which it is referred to as by Lorna Cole. It is easy to tell that it is, in fact an M11/9 by its elongated receiver. It is even stated that the weapon is a 9mm. When learning the history of the Darryl's weapon, it is said that it had a 36-round magazine. They make 32-round magazines and 50-round magazines, but not 36.

That unregistered user that wrote in here that it was the "Sig version" of the Walther PPK (none exsists), but i think he's right. It appears to be a SIG P232. - Flying Dane

Glocks or Smith and Wesson Sigmas
I know it is tough to tell the difference but Will Smiths pistols look like Smith and Wesson Sigmas not Glocks. They are virtually identical but the Sigma comes with a Stainless Steel slide standard and cost half as much as a glock. A good call if you are over budget on a film.

:No, they are definitely Glocks. When Syd tosses Marcus' gun on the land mine at the end, you clearly see the "G" on the grip. The Sigma may be a Glock imitation, but there are too many differences to be mistaken.

::It's a Michael Bay movie. You honestly think he had trouble with the budget?

::: Could I please get some clarity about this Glock issue. Well first of all definately not Sigma's. I collect S&W firearms and in fact even if you look at them in the passing they don't look anything like Glocks. The rounded trigger guards, different grip shape, etc. etc. Even though S&W did lose the law suit and had to pay. :)

The Glock issue I have is with the inconsistency with them being Glock 17's and then Glock 17 & Glock 19 combo. In fact some user chastised me for modify his post claiming one is a Glock 17 1st generation and the other a Glock 17 2nd generation. I'm not completely incompetent when it comes to firearms. In fact it's not a hobby but a obsession. Never .... wait for it..... Never has the generations shortened the gun so that the Glock 17 goes from a full-size to a compact handgun. And it is not like Michael Bay to make continuity erros like that with his main character. In fact the very first picture on this page that load of bull is sold to us. Then later on in the same Glock 17 block it is claimed that "sydney" has his (being Will Smith) Glock 19. So can we get some clarity on this. I strongly believe it is a Glock 17 and Glock 19 combo and not some made up 2nd generation "compact" of the 17.

What kind of finish?
I can't seem to tell exactly what kind of finish was used on Will Smith's two-tone Glock 17s.

Tutone black polymer frame and chromed steel slides.

I originally thought it was Caspian Stainless Steel slides but if you go look at the pictures of those Caspian slides you would see they don't have the detail on the slide that Glock has on there slides. The "9x19", "G17" ect. on them. So definately chromed slides. Not shiny (for lack of a better word) enough for nickel plating. Personally I enjoy a good hard chromed slide.

Not a Raging Bull
The big revolver that the KKK guy is holding is not a Taurus Raging Bull. It's a Smith & Wesson Performance Center 629 WB - http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=11101&storeId=10001&productId=65209&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=15714&isFirearm=Y

The Taurus lacks the Weaver rail on the top, and it does not have the scallop down the side in front of the ejector rod. You would also be able to see at least one of the 'L's from 'Raging Bull' on the side from the picture that you have.

:I concur. The giveaway is the Cylinder pin area. The S&W shots from the site are identical to the gun in the screencaps. The Taurus doesn't look like that, in that particular area. We should change the gun ID for that section. MoviePropMaster2008

The size of the screencaps
I don't want to offend Orca, but the screencaps are way too small. I think the screencaps should go back to 500px.-Oliveira 20:56, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Done. I agree with you, I don't like seeing huge screencaps either, but I don't want them to be so small, you can hardly see the gun because not everyone wants to click on the pictures to seee the gun, so in this case, I think the images should be atleast 500px, not too big or small.--Alienqueen11 21:12, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

::::Sorry Orca, I got so used to seeing how big Gunmaster45 made his screengrabs that I wasn't used to seeing 400px anymore, I'll change them back myself if you want, but I want to let you know that even though I made the shots bigger, I left all the new text you put in on them.
The Heckler & Koch HK416 assault rifle is an improvement to the well-known M4 carbine.
The design is made so that users of the original carbine can easily adapt to the new firearm. The main and major improvement that exists in the HK416 over the M4 carbine is that because of the mechanism is adapted from the G36 rather than the direct-impingement system found in M4's, making it reliable to shoot, and won't jam even if exposed to the elements.

The Heckler & Koch HK417 is the bigger sibling, chambering a 7.62 x 51 NATO round, which makes it suitable to be used as a battle rifle and/or a designated marksman rifle.
The gun he uses is an AR-18? That's odd, because I was reading in this James Bond book and it said the gun he used was an AR-70/90. Is it possible it was a 70/90 and not an 18? -Gunman69 16:00, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Remington 870 Slug Gun
The Remington 870 Slug Gun is a high end 870 with rifled sights designed for firing rifled slugs. It was manufactured for decades before the currently available 870 Express Deer gun (which is an 'economy' version with laminate stocks and more 'slop' in the tolerances).
