The slide is probably taken from a Springfield Omega 10mm. The 6-inch slide seems to have been cut and trasformed to the normal 5-inch 1911 slide to get the compensator. As you can see by comparing photos of custom and original, the compensation holes, even if modified, are in the same point.

There are a bunch of pictures of the S&W 686 being used, but when you click the pics, it says they're Colt Pythons. The pictures aren't that clear, so I can't be too sure, but at least one (the pic with the titles in it and the arm in the picture) is very likely not a Colt Python. The Python has a noticeable "railing" on the top of the barrel. S&Ws don't. The "Boris" picture, though, does look like a Python, although the top of the gun is hard to see.

I paid about $300 for mine after a large number were imported to Canada, they're going for $400-$500 now as they got bought up. We got them because Russia signed a agreement with the Clinton government not to export certain firearms (including the SVT-40) to the US.

I will warn you, it's a real pain to strip, so if you're at all lazy about cleaning don't fire surplus ammo in it. I use Igman and Bell almost exclusively, it's still pretty cheap and I don't feel bad about firing it in some of my rarer rifles.

I think anonymous users should only be allowed to edit a page if they have an account because any random troll can defile these pages whenever they please and if they register and troll, they are easier to ban. Also, when an anonymous user messages you, you can't respond back. By all means they should be allowed to read and view the pages but they shouldn't be allowed to defile the pages we work so hard on so much whenever. I know they can be blocked but still they do it so much, something should be permenantly done. Does it sound like a good idea? Okay, it was a ''bit'' harsh, but I was just throwing out ideas. In most cases, anonymous users make unprofessional pages, add incorrect info randomly, troll, and other things which wouldn't be missed (But not all. Some of the more knowledgable ones should just sign in with a user name and join the club), yet the main lot of us on the site with user names makes new professional pages and add good pictures everyday. I'm saying if it is harder to edit the site, more of the negative editors are weeded out and more of the dilligent users will sign in. My 2 cents on the issue. The person who was vandalizing the [[Commando]] page was doing it repeatedly from different IP addresses. IP addresses that changed from minute to minute, so this guy must have been doing it from a computer room at a school/college, or at a workplace with lots of IP addresses. This anonymous vandal taunted me with the words "Good Luck!" & "It's fun!" when I warned him to stop messing with IMFDB pages. One has to weigh the consequences, and personally, making it so that certain targeted pages are protected by these individuals, (and have to be edited only by persons who have bothered to make an online account), is a good compromise. Any other course of action, we can quickly lose control of IMFDB to people whose only desire is to do it harm. This comment coming from a member (me) who had to UNDO this weirdo's vandalism THREE times in the course of a few hours. If that had spread to the rest of the site ... I shudder to think what would happen. The fact that we have MODS who are willing to protect the site from this intentional vandalism is a good thing, and such action keeps members like myself from abandoning the site. I appreciate the quick action taken to protect the page. Members take a lot of their time to building good pages and it's one thing to lose info due to a hardware issue and it's another entirely to spend all one's time undoing the gibberish from a bunch of infantile internet vandals. :Yeah, I admit that many of us (myself included) have been getting WAY out of hand with screencaps. I used to make pages where I might have 10 images for a single gun, which is definitely overdoing it. And since many of our pages are the ones getting used for the Featured Article section, it makes sense. If you want, we can always start enforcing rules against having so many screencaps.

:As far as the new server goes, how much are you going to need? In the forum, we've discussed the possibility of finding advertisers. This site's Main Page has had over 1,000,000 views, and in the last month since we reached that benchmark, we've now had close to 200,000 more. At that rate, we can definitely start shopping around for sponsorship deals, especially in the American gun owning community. It might help with finding money to upgrade servers.

Thanks for the note. To the mods: Though my own preference is strongly towards chronological order, I can accede to the wishes of the majority. I do like the format of Title First, before actor. Please note all, in the [[Steyr AUG]] page that the title, then character, then actor template, dovetails nicely into the other genres (television) but also Anime and Video games. Since there is no Character in some and no Actor in Anime or Videgame, I think this order maintains the same look from Film all the way down to VG. Hard to believe, but Ubisoft messed up with both of these shotguns in Far Cry 2.

First off, the SPAS-12 is depicted as having a 12 round tubular magazine, which is obviously does not.

Second, the USAS-12 is depicted as only having a 12-round drum magazine, while it actually holds 20 rounds.

This was a pretty ok game to play, love the open world, but the problem is it takes you forever to get from one place to another, even with the bus and cars. Enemies respawn too fast and it takes have a mag to kill them. Your shots are never always true, but enemies' always hits you dead on or when you are sneaking. A little trivia...Percy Herbert was a Second World War veteran and was captured by the Japanese. He appears in The Bridge Over The River Kwai as an actor and consultant. Allegedly he is the one that suggested to the director of the film that the soldiers should whistle "Colonel Bogey" while they marched.

The "R1 Battle Carbine" that is listed as being used by Ian Yule is a chopped L1A1. The sight is a SinglePoint "red-dot" sight [seen in films like ''Star Wars'' and used by U.S. troops during the infamous Son Tay raid during the Vietnam War]. Another thing about the weapon is it is seen throughout the film with the 30-round cartridge magazine from the L4-series Bren [the 7,62mm conversion of the Bren gun]. The 7,62mm 30-round cartridge magazine from the L4-series will fit in a L1A1 but since the L4-series is top-fed the cartridge magazine does not usually work well with the bottom fed L1A1 [it's spring is weaker since the L4-series relies on gravity to feed the rounds from the cartridge magazine into the weapon]. FYI - there was never a proprietary L1A1 30-round cartridge magazine, only 20-round cartridge magazines, this is why the L4-series cartridge magazine was sometimes utilized by troops.

*Sorry to correct you but, The Australian SAS used L1A1's in Vietnam with 30 round "straight" cartridge magazines. Also as Donaldson was supposed to be an experienced soldier, could he not replace the spring? as he certainly would know how to remove it.

*You are correct about the Australian magazines...but the one in the film is curved...hence a L4-series magazine. So to correct my original statement...there were no British proprietary 30-round magazines for their L1A1 SLR. Furthermore to assume that the spring was replaced by the film character would be something I would think is beyond the scope of this website. I'm sure that for Hollywood usage the magazine was probably not loaded to full capacity if they had experienced any jamming on the film set. Of course without being able to converse with the film's armourer - we will probably never know exactly how the magazine was used, modified, etc. A side note - according to some biographies of Ian Yule he also served as an uncredited assistant weapons handler on the film set.

::1950s stars? well most of them started and did a lot of work in the 1950s but they were established international movie stars by the time this film was made so I wouldn't describe them merely as 1950s stars. Also there wasn't a theme of older guns, it was the mercs scrounging for anything they could use and there were a lot of left over guns in Africa from the previous decades. Like the Blindicide, I don't recall any of them carrying one into the para drop, but they could have picked up one from the prison camp when they killed all the guards. Most of them still used what they brought with them into the country (Uzis, Fals, Sterlings, etc.) so I wouldn't consider it to be a thematic 'change' for them to use older weapons as the film progresses. The real world model used for the gun in the game is a KWA airsoft g18c, evidence by the built in compensator on the top (only seen in the airsoft gun) and the lack of engravings. An interesting note about this gun is that when it is fired the breach is never opened, rather the integrated compensator open up and releases the spent shell/s (this is of course not the case with the real weapon.)

The [[Heckler & Koch MP5#Heckler & Koch MP5A5|Heckler & Koch MP5A5]] is in the game as the "MP5N" cosign used by the United States Navy and the SEALs and is modifiable like all weapons in the game. It is used by Rainbow (especially Bishop and Logan), LVPD SWAT, and by the terrorists. The In-game model is of the MP5N, meaning that the 3 round burst setting is absent from the left side of the gun making it appear as the navy model, but it has a three-round burst setting in the gun's silencer/fire mode menu, making it an MP5A5.

This weapon claims to be an AK-47 in-game, but it doesn't use the more curved 7.62x39 magazines that a real AK-47 would. It has the same statistics as the AKS-74U, which would appear to support the hypothesis that it uses 5.45x39mm rounds. The alleged [[AK-47]] is a very common terrorist weapon in game, it can be modified with a lasersight, ACOG, holographic sight, and 3X Scope. The jury is still out on what this gun actually is. Armalite holds the patents to the name and design of "AR-10". It can be seen used by Rainbow operatives in game.

*The odd thing about the [[SA80|L85A2]] in the game is when in its basic mode, with no attachments, the standard magazine capacity is 25 rounds instead of 30 round as it should be. One can get an "extended magazine" which increases the mag capacity to 35. Realistically, such a thing doesn't exist. And when equipped with a scope, you can't get a SUSAT, originally fitted to all models, now replaced by the ACOG.
*The L85A2 has the sound of the AK47 from the original Rainbow Six: Vegas, despite having two different cartridge types.

As I'm watching this show, I notice way too many small errors.
For example, in Spetznaz vs. GB, they list the Makarov as 9mm. While it's true that it's 9mm, the 9X18 Makarov round is NOT the same as the 9X19.

And the Ninja's weapon, the Ninjatō, never had proof that it was real, Ninja's used Katanas. Also, the Ninja wearing black, is just a stereotype, in the woods they would wear something like green.

That line-up was pretty laughable. Not sure who the pirate "experts" were, but they didn't know a thing they were talking about. Overall it would've been a sword fight and the knight's shield and sword combo with combat training would've easily taken down the pirate--no contest if the knight stayed on his horse.

This show is ridiculous. Many of the match ups aren't fair to either or both sides, since they are just 'assuming' many things. Also many of the comparisons are purely '''apples vs oranges'''. In the Mafia versus Yakuza, comparing a Thompson to a Sten????? WTF? Two different types of guns for different purposes. the M1928 with a 100 round drum is ridiculously HEAVY and no soldier would want to be running around a lying prone with it (which is why the M1 &M1A1 with their stick mags were developed in WW2). The Sten is lighter and holds a 32 round stick mag. It was a very simplified design done for the sake of mass production during time of war, and it was much more suited to commando raids and airborne ops than the Thompson with a 100 rd drum, just because of weight and types of magazines.

I just saw the Yakuza vs. Mafia & Spetznaz vs. Green Berets episodes, and I think I have a migrane now. They used a Luger P08 as a "Walther P38" and had a so-called "expert" saying the M4A1 has a "4-position selector switch" and is capable of both burst AND automatic fire. What the hell? They also had a Saiga-12 with a hunting-style stock rather than the mil-spec pistol grip. I wouldn't know the only time I have handled an official US issue M-4A1 was about ten years ago and it was safe-Semi-Full. from what I understand the four position safety was designed as an experiment and latter sold comercially. There was NOT any four-selector AR-15 based rifle EVER created. If you ever had any AR-15 rifle dissasembled, or even if you ever handled any, you would have know, that a four-selector switch is purely impossible. ALL issued variants have/had only a three-position selector switch - either for save/semi/auto (early models Colt 601,602, various carbine versions, the M16A3 and others) or save/semi/burst (M16A2, M16A2 etc). I was kind of annoyed by the errors this show typically displays as always, but some notable ones were on Sunday with the IRA vs. Taliban episode. They claimed the Irish Republican Army used the "Armalite AR-15" as their main weapon, yet I was always under the impression they used the Armalite AR-18. And aside from that, hasn't Colt been the producer of the "AR-15" since the 70s? The guns they used on the show were M16A2/Colt AR-15 A2 HBAR rifles anyway, not Armalite guns. And they somehow tried to show the AK-47 was superior to an AR-15 by slapping a huge amount of mud on the action and pouring water down the barrel. The AK of course didn't jam and the AR did, but that's a dumb test. A gun can get dirty and jam up but if it gets THAT dirty, it isn't even a fair trial. Also, they compared an LPO-50 flamethrower to an RPG-7 (Norinco Type 69)? One is good for 20ft another can hit out at 300m. That's fair. And they claim both are MID-RANGE weapons. Also, they couldn't get the actual flamethrower used in the one incident, so they used this propane tank flamethrower that barely worked. And then they compare the slingshot to the bayonet. WTF??!! One is a hand-to-hand blade fixed to the muzzle of a gun, the slingshot is a mid-range projectile launcher. And if the IRA used it, it was more effetive than what they showed on the show. This show is dumb, I only watch it now because my friends told me it is awesome and I watch just to tear it down. Plus in the Gangsters episode, they kept saying "clip" instead of magazine, which was seriously pissing me off. And listening to David Wenham say the "British Sten uses a 30-round clip" made me want to kill everyone who makes this show. And the use of the term "drum-clip" is just insipid. I do not believe this show is meant to be taken seriously, rather it is meant for entertainment and possibly sending people into fits about whatever historical badass they were rooting for. "SS vs VC is retarded". Not so much as it actually happened. When the French started fighting the VC, they sent in the French Foreign Legion, who just cut the VC into ribbons. A journalist did some investigating, and found out that the FFL soldiers were actually former Waffen SS. There was great outrage in France and all of the ex-SS FFL were kicked out. @Armyguy277: So? An AK74 is just an AKM chambered for the smaller cartridge. Otherwise, it's the same identical gun. FYI, no AK74s were ever used anywhere in this show. The Spetsnaz were armed with AKMs just like the Taliban were. And the AK74 isn't a carbine, it's a rifle. The carbine version of the 74 is the AKSU-74. In the GSG9 vs SWAT, the guys representing GSG9 weren't even GSG9 operators. One of them is a Gebirgsjäger, mountain infantryman of the Bundeswehr, who was never in the BGS/BPol. The other one, though a GSG9 combat instructor, was an instructor for hand to hand combat. The two SWAT guys on the other hand, were actual D platoon officers. The two German guys are good, but when they do the room clearing, they can't match the speed of someone who actually participate in mission or train everyday.

Also, I found the stingball grenade vs. taser shockwave comparison to be completely bogus since they are totally different class of weapon. When the German guys point out that the stingball is more maneuverable, they just use a single taser and test it on a subject and then declare taser superior. I mean WTF... Yeah, the GSG9 guys' time in the room takedown "test" seemed a bit too fast for what they actually did. I also noticed they had a particularly slow rate of fire. I know I counted at least half a second between each of the three rounds one put into that first target dummy. Also, and is it just me, but did anyone notice one of the "operators" handling a Winchester 1897? I swear I saw it at one point. Also did the LWRC PSD switch back with a standard M4A1 when they were switching between "prep" and live fire? Also I have to agree with the "comparison" of the stingball/taser shockwave. The stingball would be the more practical of the two whereas the shockwave, though cool looking, is almost impractical. Seriously if riot cops have to set that thing up before use ya think maybe the rioters will rush them before it can be deployed?

In addition the one thing I found odd, and please correct me here, is the SWAT use of lethal force. I was always under the impression that SWAT used lethal force as a last result (yes I know this was a "combat" situation) but, at their core, they are cops who prefer to arrest suspects. I refer specifically to one scene where a SWAT operator guns down a wounded GSG-9 operator. GSG-9 on the other hand is, by their very nature, supposed to do nothing but use deadly force. :Well, GSG 9 is technically a police tactical unit too. When the situation permit, they would attempt to arrest suspect too (hence the use of non-leathal weapons such as the stingball).
