The [http://www.fnhusa.com/mil/scar.asp FNH USA website] refers to this is the Mk 13, which is apparently what USSOCOM calls it, but the [http://www.fnherstal.com/index.php?id=265 regular FNH website] just refers to it as the FN40GL-L/-H/-S. Why are we going by the USSOCOM designation rather than the manufacturer designation? :The weapon was first proposed for USSOCOM's EGLM requirement; in full, it was adopted at Mk 13 Mod 0 EGLM. I guess FN40GL is just how they sell it to everyone else, same as Mk 16 / 17 versus SCAR. [[User:Evil Tim|Evil Tim]] 10:10, 21 December 2011 (CST)

::Thinking about it, it's possible the change to FN40GL from EGLM (which I'm sure they used to use) might have something to do with the Colt / Bushmaster M4 lawsuit; I notice [http://www.hk-usa.com/military_products/agc_general.asp HK has started referring to the AG-C as "EGLM"] and it's possible that since the EGLM term originates from USSOCOM and not from FN itself that they feared a lawsuit might go a similar way and declare EGLM as generic. ::::I checked on this: until 2007, FN Herstal's website (or the parts I can get through archive.org, the Java links don't work) doesn't mention a name for the Mk 13, FN40GL or GL-1 ''at all'', only mentioning them as part of an "integrated weapon system;" check [http://web.archive.org/web/20060720080344/http://www.fnherstal.com/html/Index.htm here], click "Unique Opportunity to See FN HERSTAL's Products in Latin America" and then follow the link to the F2000.

:Calling the SCAR-L "MK 16" is not wrong, some video game pages do that, as some pages say M4 Super 90 while some others say M1014. (Although I doubt that the "Mod 0" thingy should be used as it is on the BF3 page.) It does not matter if this launcher is called the "MK 13" or "FN40GL", but calling it "FN EGLM" on a film/game/anime page is definitely incorrect. SCAR stands for SOCOM Assulat Rifle, MK16 refers to the 5.56mm version, MK17 refers to the 7.62mm version. EGLM stands for Enhaced Gernade Launcher Module. Calling the SCAR-L the MK16 is wrong as it refers to the wrong weapon.
