This is a little-known AR15 derivative developed by Crane and is used by U.S. SOCOM personnel in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other hot-spots globally. The Mod 0 uses a PRI carbon fiber handguard where the Mod 1 uses either a Knight Armament or LaRue Tactical free-floating aluminum handguard. The weapons in the movie are fitted with suppressors, brass catchers, Surefire M900 weaponlight foregrips, as well as AN/PEQ-2 IR designators and are fired on automatic (which suggests that the terrorists simply took the upper receivers/barrels and slapped them on full-auto lowers).

The gun used by the terrorist snipers, first in the shootout at Matt Farell(Justin Long)'s apartment, and later during chase scene in Washington D.C., is the Mark 12 Mod 0 SPR (Special Purpose Rifle).
During the scene at the power plant, McClane runs into a terrorist who is armed with a Heckler & Koch USP Tactical fitted with a KAC suppressor. McClane fires his SIG P220R and the terrorist fires the USP Tactical simultaneously over each other's heads before knocking each other's guns away. McClane eventually gets a Glock 17 out of the terrorist's holster and uses it to kill him.
John McClane's (Bruce Willis) weapon of choice, the Beretta 92FS is given to him once he is reinstated. He uses it several times throughout the movie, most notably to kill a pair of pursuing terrorists in a pickup during the movie's big car chase. Katya (Sam Phillips) also uses one while in Canada, when McClane's chopper surprises her and Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons) during a quick tryst.
H&K MP5K
A common weapon seen used by the terrorists are Heckler & Koch MP5K submachineguns. During their infiltration of the cargo ship, John McClane (Bruce Willis) takes one off of a dead terrorist and gives it to Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson) before sending him off to find Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons). When Zeus does, he corners Simon and threatens to kill him if he doesn't give out the code to disarm a school-planted bomb (later found to be a decoy). Simon refuses and Zeus pulls the trigger, only to find the gun on safe. Simon disarms him, notes the fact and then shoots Zeus in the leg.

Comment: Before the climax scene when the MP5Ks are being handed out, one terrorist is seen cocking the foregrip instead of the actual cocking handle.
MAC-10
John McClane (Bruce Willis) lifts a MAC-10 off of a dead cargo ship terrorist after his fight with Targo (Nicholas Wyman), taking it and the Beretta up to the bridge, where, after discovering that the bomb they were chasing after is on board the ship itself, he is disarmed by Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons) and his men.
Walther PPK
While preparing to depart the doomed cargo ship, Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons) and Katya (Sam Phillips) are confronted by Targo (Nicholas Wyman), who discovered earlier what was really the cargo on the ship. After Targo accuses Simon of betrayal, Katya draws a nickel-plated Walther PPK with pearl grips and empties the magazine into Targo, killing him.

M60 Machine Gun
During the movie's finale in Canada, Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons) uses an M60 machine gun from the seat of a helicopter to shoot down a nearby chopper holding John McClane (Bruce Willis), Zeus Carver (Samuel L. Jackson), and a NYPD pilot. He then very nearly kills McClane with the gun before McClane shoots a nearby power line, dropping it onto Simon's chopper. Simon only has time for one final burst before his chopper crashes, killing him.

Smith & Wesson Model 36
During the movie's finale in Canada, John McClane (Bruce Willis) uses the only gun available to him - a Smith & Wesson Model 36 revolver (chambered in .38 S&W) - while under attack from Simon Gruber (Jeremy Irons). Despite overwhelming odds - Simon being in a chopper, armed with a M60 belt-fed machine gun vs. McClane having only two rounds left after firing three from his own chopper earlier in the scene - McClane is able to gain the upper hand, and victory, when Simon's chopper ends up under a high-voltage power line. McClane uses the two remaining bullets in his gun to shoot and detach the power cable, dropping it onto Simon's chopper and causing the chopper to crash and burn, killing Simon.

This is not a S&W Centennial Airweight as previously claimed (noticed the external hammer).

Smith & Wesson Model 60
Near the beginning of the film, McClaine is forced by Simon, under threat of another bomb being detonated, to go into Harlem stripped down to his underwear and wearing a sign with a racial slur written on it. His fellow officers, unwilling to send him into such a situation totally defenseless, tape a Smith & Wesson Model 60 revolver to his back. The situation inevitably deteriorates, McClaine's life being saved when Zeus steps in and grabs the revolver off McClaine's back, using it to intimidate the assembled mob into backing off long enough for the two to escape.

Uzi SMG
Another frequently-used weapon by Simon's men is the Uzi sub-machine gun. It is most notably seen in the scene where Simon's men rig the dam to blow in the aqueduct in an attempt to drown McClaine as he's persuing them.
German soldiers at the camp are seen armed with Karabiner 98k rifles, although like many WWII films between 1960-1980, the MP40 is innaccurately portrayed as the main weapon of the German Army.
