A couple are also seen being carried by civilians stackhouse encounters, including a young man who accompanies Burnett in his attempt to reach the extraction point. These weapons appear in the final scenes in which Frank Castle directly attacks Howard Saint ([[John Travolta]]). The particular [[M16#M4 carbine|M4A1 carbine]] that Frank Castle uses is modified with a flat-top upper receiver with a standard Picatinny-rail mount for accessories, an [[M203 grenade launcher]] and finally with an Aimpoint M68 Close Combat Optic. The gun also appears in some of the earlier scenes, but without any of the rail or optical modifications. Frank apparently picks this one up from his private weapons stash as he returns.

Frank "The Punisher" Castle first fires this double-barreled shotgun when the beach house is stormed by Saint's men. As he leaves the place, he clearly wraps up the shotgun into a rug. Upon returning back to Tampa, Frank is seen handling and firing this considerably shortened, sawed-off - yet double-barreled shotgun. It is unknown if these weapons are indeed the same model - only the sawed-off model being a considerable modification of the one seen in the beach house-scene.

Despite having the responding police and FBI personnel outgunned, he's still easily taken down when Agent Hubbard catches him offguard. One of the terrorists in the safehouse raid is also seen using an Uzi, ending up getting shot by one of his comrades who was firing blindly at the FBI Agents. This is a slight cultural irony, as the Uzi is primarily produced in Israel, and is being used by Arab terrorists.

The [[M16 rifle series|M16]] rifle features prominently in the movie, almost every soldier involved in the occupation of New York City is seen carrying one. A notable point in the film is that when Maj. General William Deveraux ([[Bruce Willis]]) is describing what the occupation will entail, he distinctly mentions the "M16A1 assault rifle", though the U.S. military had switched to the M16A2 years prior to the events in the film, and indeed the A2 version is the most prevalent, but sharp eyes can spot at least one appearance of the A1 version. Another M16A2 can be briefly seen carried by one of the terrorists holding hostages during the second bus siege.

Flea then fires all seven shots and most likey drops the shotgun, due to its long reload time. Flea uses his M4 until he is shot.
