Watchmen is the 2009 feature film adaptation of the DC Comics graphic novel series created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Set in an alternate 1985 where super-powered individuals have existed for decades, the film follows a group of retired superheroes now shunned by the public, but have to work together when one of their original members is found murdered. The film was directed by Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch) and the cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Billy Crudup, Malin Akerman, Carla Gugino, Patrick Wilson, and Jackie Earle Haley. The comic book series would be adapted again with an original series sequel that premiered on HBO in October of 2019.
The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) carries as his sidearms custom 1911-series D&L Sports Professional Model Longslides with ornate smiley-face grips to match the Comedian logo. They have "Nixon 1970" written on the grips, indicating they were a gift from Nixon for serving in the Vietnam war. At the beginning of the film, The Comedian tries to bring up one of his 1911s (fitted with a sound suppressor) to combat the attacking assailant in his home but fires off one stray shot to no avail and is disarmed. For the most part, these guns are only seen in his holsters or in a presentation case any other time. Anachronistically the guns have Picatinny Rails; a technology that wasn't invented til the mid 1990's
M1911A1
The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) uses his issued M1911A1 sidearm in the film to kill a pregnant Vietnamese woman (Nhi Do) when she slashes him with a broken bottle for leaving her and the baby behind. During the film's opening credits, a criminal armed with an M1911A1 is shown being foiled by a young Nite Owl I (Clint Carleton). We also see a criminal try to draw a nickel plated M1911A1 fitted with ivory grips when attempting to kill Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup), but is blown up horrifically before he can fire off a shot.
A Smith & Wesson Model 586 with a four inch barrel is used by Roy Chess (Douglas Chapman) to fire at Adrian Veidt (Matthew Goode) and shoot two employees (killing one) before Veidt hits him with a pole. In the novel the gun was based on a Beretta Model 70.
A Walther PPK is left at Moloch's (Matt Frewer) side after he is murdered in which we see the person planting it unscrews the suppressor and places it next to him. During the opening sequence summing up the past, Hippies stick flowers into the barrels of M1 Garand rifles of U.S. Army military policemen before the MPs fire them on the hippies, flowers still in the muzzles. This is an homage to the famous photograph where a protester places a flower in the barrel of an MP's M14 Rifle. In reality, MPs in the U.S. did use M14 Rifles during this time period. National Guardsmen (as in the Kent State shooting in 1970) were armed with M1 Garands.
Yojimbo is a 1961 Japanese samurai movie starring Toshirô Mifune and Tatsuya Nakadai, directed by Akira Kurosawa. It notably features only one gun, which plays an important role in the hands of Nakadai.

The film's story has inspired several Western-produced remakes including A Fistful of Dollars, Quelli che contano, Django, Last Man Standing, Lucky Number Slevin and Sukiyaki Western Django. Though Kurosawa sued Leone (director of A Fistful of Dollars) for plagiarism (Kurosawa won and was a producer of the Japanese release), Yojimbo itself is unofficially based on Dashiell Hammett's noir novel "Red Harvest."
The Last Samurai is a 2003 historical drama that stars Tom Cruise as Nathan Algren, a disillusioned American Civil War and Indian Wars veteran who travels to Japan to take a job training soldiers in modern weaponry in order to help wipe out the Samurai. When he is captured by the Samurai, Algren comes to learn their ancient warrior ways. The film was directed by Edward Zwick (Glory, The Siege), who would later direct Cruise in 2016's Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
Winchester 1873 "Trapper" Model
In the beginning of the film, Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise) shows off and fires a Trapper model of the Winchester Model 1873 at a trade show. His Winchester is fitted with a large lever loop and Algren states it is a '73 trapper, which could hold 6 + 1 in the chamber. Algren is seen using the large lever loop to do a one-handed reload of the rifle, a move often seen performed by John Wayne in several of his Westerns.
Springfield Model 1861
The Imperial Army of Japan uses Springfield Model 1861 muzzle-loading rifles as their standard issued weapons during the first half of the movie. Unlike many muzzle-loaders, some of these guns appear to be able to fire two shots before having to reload, all though this could be incorrect. But this could be a trick of the camera where the line of soldiers reloaded, and fired again, or a another line assembled off camera. Also the use of muzzle loading rifles is Anachronistic, BY the 1870's Japan's Imperial army already adopted the Snider-Enfield a breachloading firearm

Enfield Pattern 1853
Along with the Springfield Model 1861, Imperial Japanese troops were also equipped with Enfield Pattern 1853 rifles during their training with Algren.

Mauser M1871/84
In the second half of the movie, the Japanese Imperial Army carries German bolt-action Mauser Rifles, in spite of the fact they were supposedly being armed by the US (In actual history it was the Prussians who did arm the Japanese with Mausers). The rifles used on-screen are Mauser M1871/84 models converted in appearance to appear as the earlier period-appropriate (1877) single-shot Mauser Model 1871s.

Mauser M1871
In addition to the Mauser M1871/84, the standard, period correct, single shot Mauser M1871 rifles are also seen. Primarily in the scenes taking place in Tokyo later in the film. It can be distinguished from the later M1871/84 by the different shaped and sized trigger guard, a cleaning rod instead of a stacking rod, and overall slimmer appearance due to the lack of a magazine tube underneath the barrel. It appears the single shot rifles were used for non-firing scenes while firing scenes were done by the later repeating models.
Howitzer
The Imperial Army is shown training with Howitzers after Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise) comes back from being with the samurai for a few months. The Howitzers are later used in the final battle scene. Both the Mountain Howitzer and the Field Howitzer are the same caliber projectile, but require different powder charges. The movie utilized the Field Howitzer as shown in the screen shots below.

Gatling Gun
The Imperial Army uses Gatling Guns to slaughter the remaining samurai in the final charge scene. According to Colonel Bagley (Tony Goldwyn), "These guns can fire two hundred rounds a minute, and their new cartridges have cut down on jamming." These particular guns were heavily repaired by Master Armorer, Gary Harper, onsite, prior to shooting.
Batman: Arkham Knight is the final installment of Rocksteady's Arkham series of Batman games, produced by Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment and released for PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC (allegedly) in 2015.

The game takes place after the events of Batman: Arkham City, with villain Scarecrow recovering from being mauled by Killer Croc in Arkham Asylum to terrorize Gotham City once again, now threatening to swamp the entire Eastern Seaboard in his 'fear toxin'. Along with him is a mysterious new figure named the Arkham Knight, commanding a vast mercenary army and seeming to have a personal grudge to settle with Batman. The Caped Crusader must use all the resources at his disposal, including a new controllable Batmobile, to deal with this threat ... but can he also deal with his own inner demons?
Handguns
Glock 17
The Arkham Knight (voiced by Troy Baker) carries a backup pistol seemingly based on the Glock 17, though heavily stylized, presumably to fit with his futuristic soldier aesthetic. While they seem to be modified in the same way as his Desert Eagles below, and he does indeed carry a pair, further suggesting this, he only pulls them out one of a time, losing the first one when Batman disarms him prior to his boss fight, and then pulling another one at the end of said fight, when his Desert Eagles are knocked away form him. This second pistol is never used again in the game, leaving it's fate unknown.
Second Generation Glock 17s are used by GCPD officers in an attempt to defend themselves from the newly formed alliance between Gotham's major villains in the "Father to Son" trailer for the game.

Desert Eagle
The Arkham Knight (voiced by Troy Baker) carries a pair of extensively modified Desert Eagles, one fitted with a retractable scope and laser sight, and the other with a folding stock, as his weapons of choice. During his boss fight, he somehow combines both of them, extending the scoped one's barrel to around fourteen inches, and turning them into a straight-pull bolt action rifle.

The Red Hood (also voiced by Baker) carries similar weapons, but without the scope nor stock, apparently being straight out of factory weapons, marking the first time since the Joker's playable appearance in Batman: Arkham Asylum that the player is allowed to freely use lethal force to deal with their opponents.

Deathstroke's (voiced by Mark Rolston) display in the GCPD lockup includes a completely normal Desert Eagle.

SIG-Sauer P220/P228R Hybrid
A strange, almost bizarre amalgamation of several variants of the SIG-Sauer P220, combining the full size and single stack mag of the P220, along with the almost full-length rail of the P228R, along with a slide mounted decocker/safety, appears as the game's most commonly used pistol, replacing the Sphinx 3000 from the previous games. The weapon is proportioned in a extremely cartoonish matter, with grossly exaggerated features, including an extremely over-sized ejection port and a thin, almost comically small grip. Why this design was chosen, given the realistic style of the rest of the game, it's unknown.

Rather unsurprisingly, she ends up shooting one of them by accident, as denoted by the subtitles.]]

Colt Python
A stainless 4-inch Colt Python with rubber grips is used by Commissioner James Gordon (voiced by Jonathan Banks) as his sidearm, replacing the nickel plated Desert Eagle he carried in the previous games. The revolver is, for some reason or another, not only modeled with a trigger guard relief, but also without a cylinder latch.

Two Face (voiced by Troy Baker) also owns, not surprisingly, a pair of these revolvers, one with a stainless finish, and one with a blued finish, similar to the ones the character carries in Batman Forever.

Taurus Raging Bull
Joker's (voiced by Mark Hamill) stylized Taurus Raging Bull returns from his DLC in Batman: Arkham Asylum, held in a glass case in the GCPD Evidence Room, along with the rest of his gadgets from that particular game. Ironically enough, according to Aaron Cash, the revolver is loaded with five actual bullets, and a single "Bang!" flag, when in it's titular DLC it only had one bullet loaded (although knowing The Joker, the flag is probably just as lethal as the rest of the ammo in the gun). The flag may be a possible reference to the original Batman, where the Joker intimidates Vicki Vale with a seemingly loaded pistol only for a flag to appear when the trigger is pulled.

"Bat Killer"
Harley Quinn's (voiced by Tara Strong) comically oversized hand-howitzer returns from the "Harley's Revenge" DLC for Batman: Arkham City, being found in the GCPD Evidence Room. The design seems to have changed following the events of the DLC, with a nickel finish, brighter wood grips, and the lack of the danger stripes on the backside of the weapon, whether this is artistic license or damage following the ending of "Harley's Revenge" is unknown. The in-game description states it is a modified flaregun.

Deadshot's Wrist Guns
A remodelled version of the wrist guns used by the assassin Deadshot in Arkham City can be seen in the GCPD evidence lockup. They are somewhat changed from their previous appearance: while they still use a fairly anonymous pistol receiver, they are not as chunky, and each unit is now a single pistol with a scope rather than two pistols with no visible means of aiming them. The weapons may be a reference to Suicide Squad, where Deadshot also appears and uses the same pistols.

Submachine Guns
Auto Ordnance Thompson M1927
A M1927 Thompson previously belonging to Arnold Wesker, or more likely his "puppet" Scarface, can be seen in a display case at the GCPD Evidence Room. One can also be seen in the first of Penguin's arms caches.

Shotguns
Joker's Shotgun
In a sequence towards the end of the game, the Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill) is seen using a massive, ridiculous fictional shotgun covered in random wires (half of which are broken) and futuristic embellishments.

Remington 870
The series' staple Remington 870 shotgun with pistol grip returns once again, and is seen in the hands of various criminals, usually during stealth sections.

Rifles
Colt M4A1
Multiple Colt M4A1 rifles are used by Harley Quinn's men in the Announce Trailer, some with M203 launchers as well.

"Assault Rifle"
The strange amalgamation of the Noveske N4 Diplomat, along with the top rail of an Heckler & Koch SL8 returns from Batman: Arkham City, once again used by the GCPD, the Arkham Knight's army, and every second armed thug from Crime Alley to Wayne Tower, this time with both the upper and lower receivers painted in coyote brown. Once again, they're incorrectly depicted as having two left sides, with the ejection port and forward assist nowhere to be found. Rather unsurprisingly, The Penguin still sells the rifle on the black market, his stock going unchanged between this game and the one before it.
After apprehending Deathstroke (an exceptionally 90s-style bad guy), he gets a weapon display in the GCPD evidence lockup, with the most tacti-cool of hardware: a Desert Eagle, a straight-bladed "ninjato" sword which is referred to as a katana, and a Heckler & Koch XM8 with what appears to be a CZ 805 BREN handguard.
IMI Tavor TAR-21
As in Arkham City, snipers in the game use a modified TAR-21 rifle with a massive, silly barrel extension and a long-rang scope: this weapon has a new model, but is still fundamentally the same. When used by regular enemies, they have red visible laser sights with the beam coming out of the barrel (!) that make a "laser" sound when the sniper is targeting Batman. The sniper Deadshot's rifle from Arkham City can also be found in the GCPD evidence room, and uses the new rifle model.
When she is encountered in the film studio, Harley Quinn (voiced by Tara Strong) has what appears to be a customised Mk 46 Mod 0 machine gun equipped with an M203 and a folding stock. Because it is Harley's gun, it also has pink fluffy dice hanging off the M203's trigger guard, a fluffy pink sleeve over the carry handle, and a photograph of Mr. J taped to the right side of the belt box (another possible reference to Suicide Squad). The weapon is later found in her second section in the GCPD evidence room.
Fictional Gatling gun
Minigunner enemies use a fictional 8-barrel rotary gun as their primary weapon. Oddly, this is shown with a belt that simply runs from one part of the gun to another, with no actual ammo storage.

Trivia
NEST
There really is a NEST in the U.S. It stands for Nuclear Emergency Support Team (formerly Nuclear Emergency Search Team) and it is not a fighting force but has lots of scientists and bomb disposal experts. NEST usually counts on elite units from the various branches to help it with any fights or defensive postures. It is a unit of the US Department of Energy and deals mostly with detecting, controlling and deactivating nuclear devices or threats on U.S. Soil.

NEST Island Base
One of the main reasons why NEST, a US run special operations unit would allow British Special Forces into their ranks not only because they are one of the few foreign nations in which the US have had good special operations history with, but because of the island in which NEST's base is stationed on. The island, which is actually a live US Naval Base called Diego Garcia, was given to the US by the British for lease. Keeping the secret of the Autobots residing on the island from the British would not have lasted long, so in good faith payment I suspect the US government allowed the British to have their own Special Forces teams within NEST; which would make sense because in several of the battle scenes it depicts British Special Forces like the SAS involved. In exchange the British would allow the US military to have full operation control of NEST and the secret of the Autobots existence to be safe.

In many ways the island that NEST is based in is probably the most sound and logical place for a secretive Special Ops/Autobot Task Force. Diego Garcia is in the middle of the Indian Ocean, far away from any modern city which contains curious reporters, journalists, as well as pesky nerdy conspiracy theorists. And because it is an island with water on all four sides, and its waters patrolled by a heavily armed US Naval Task Force it would be literally impossible for any trespassers to sneak onto the island to collect evidence about the existence of the Autobots. That is unless you are a Decepticon as shown in the movie.

SAS
the SAS (Special Air Service) soldiers are seen wearing their sand colored berets in combat, which in real life would not happen. The sand beret is reserved only for ceremonial occasions and parades, and is substituted with either a bush hat (known as a "boonie hat" in the US) or a helmet when in the field, same as with US military headwear regulations.

Railgun
Towards the climax of the movies final battle, Agent Simmons contacts the US Navy via radio and requests for bombardment firing order of their classified railgun to fire on the Devastator Decepticon climbing on the Great Pyramid of Giza attempting to use the harvester. The railgun is mounted on USS Kidd. The weapon is mounted in place of its standard MK 45 naval cannon. The establishing shot shows USS Preble instead of Kidd, but Kidd was actually used during production, so it is likely that some of the other scenes are filmed on Kidd.

The railgun gained a somewhat notorious reputation as a pure Deus Ex Machina, being used to conveniently resolve one major conflict with no mention of it beforehand and never being mentioned again afterwards. In reality railguns are still experimental developments and probably wont be fielded anytime soon.
