'''Cartouche''' is a french historical adventure film directed by [[Philippe de Broca]] in 1962. The story takes place in Paris on begining 18th century. One thief named Louis Dominique Bourguignon ([[Jean-Paul Belmondo]]) worked for gang of Malichot ([[Marcel Dalio]]), whose methods he will stopped like it. He refuses to serve for Malichot, and then disappears before his revenge, when joins the army. There he befriends with two men - The Mole ([[Jean Rochefort]]) and a Gentle Giant ([[Jess Hahn]]). Together deserted from the army and take them also the regimental treasury. On the fleeing, they stop at an inn where they meet Venus ([[Claudia Cardinale]]), a beautiful gypsy girl, who has been arrested. They free her, and she adds to his gang. Returning to Paris, de Bourguignon creates his own band under the name of ''Cartouche'', and most of Malichot's gang join him. They make audacious robberies and distribute the takings from the rich people, in the poor. Thus, Cartouche attracts the people's sympathies, Venus's love, and hate from the Police and Malichot. Malichot goes to the police to betray Cartouche, but he escaping from the trap they had set the police on him when he has an appointment with Venus in the old castle. But later, when he was enchanted by the icy beauty of noblewoman Isabelle de Ferrussac ([[Odile Versois]]), goes to a meeting with her and is caught. His friend tried to arrest him on the way to liberate. In the scuffle that follows, Venus sacrifices her life, to save him. &lt;br /&gt;
