The Following weapons appear in this game:

WARNING: Major plot spoilers in some of the weapon descriptions.

Beretta M9
The Beretta M9 appears in the game, and is used by Sgt. Paul Jackson and many of the Marines and enemies as their standard sidearm. It is a relatively weak pistol, but has the highest magazine capacity of 15 rounds of 9mm and the lowest recoil allowing quick follow up shots.

H&K USP
The H&K USP appears in this game as the sidearm of Sgt. "Soap" McTavish and many other SAS soldiers in the game. It has a underbarrel flashlight that is unused in the game. It uses .45 ACP rounds in a 12 round magazine. It's recoil, capacity and stopping power make this gun the most balanced in classes, being slightly more powerful than the M9, but not as powerful as the M1911A1 or Desert Eagle.

Kimber Warrior
The Kimber Warrior appears in this game and is used by Sgt. Paul Jackson in the level "Shock and Awe", and by Sgt. "Soap" McTavish in some levels as a sidearm. Cpt. Price and one of the main villians, Viktor Zakhaev carry this pistol as well, and Zakhaev uses it to commit suicide with. Cpt. Price slides his to "Soap" McTavish at the end of the game and uses it to kill Imran Zakhaev and his two bodyguards. It has a 7 round magazine(8 in multiplayer) holding .45 ACP rounds giving it great stopping power. It's low capcity means it is more of a power gun like the Desert Eagle except far more accurate and controllable.

IMI Desert Eagle
The Desert Eagle appears in this game and is the most powerful pistol holding 7 shots but having the most recoil and the least accuracy. Two of the main villians, Khaled Al-Asad, and Imran Zakhaev, carry this pistol as their weapon of choice. Al-Asad uses his to kill President Al-Fulahni on TV. In single-player it is only useable once on the level "Crew Expendable" when a man with two of them jumps you on the ship. In multiplayer, it is a useable sidearm.

Winchester M1200
The Winchester 1200 appears in this game as the "W1200" and is used by some of the Marines and many enemies throughout the game. Gaz pulls out a Model 1200 in the "Crew Expendable" level, saying he likes to keep it "for close encounters". It is powerful at close range, but is slow to reload.

Benelli M4 Super 90
The Benelli M4 Super 90 appears in this game as the "M1014", and has a higher rate of fire than the W1200, but in multiplayer, has a lower magazine capacity, and like the W1200, has a slow reload time.

CZ Skorpion SA
The Skorpion SA appears in this game, and is used by some enemies. It has poor range, minimal stopping power and a small 20 round magazine of .32 ACP but near no muzzle climb and an extreme rate of fire makes it great for CQC(close quarters combat).

IMI Mini Uzi 9mm
The Mini Uzi appears in this game, and is also used by many enemies. It fires 9mm rounds from a 32 round magazine at a high rate of fire, making its accuracy poor but its close quarters power great. Zakhaev's son uses one while escorting Al-Fulahni to his execution.

H&K MP5 9mm
The H&K MP5A3 appears in this game and is used by Sgt. "Soap" McTavish (the player) and some of the SAS Operatives, and is also used by some of the Russian Separtists. The H&K MP5SD is also wielded by the player and some SAS Operatives in the prologue and epilogue levels. The SD model is fitted with a sound suppresor. The MP5 fires 9mm rounds from a 30 round magazine and is extremely accurate for a sub machinegun. It is probably the best to use for multiple situations.

Kalashnikov AKS-74U
The AKS-74U appears in this game as the "AK-74U", and is used by some enemies in the game. The character Nikolai uses one as his weapon of choice in the levels that he appears in. It is a scaled down AK-74 put under the class of Sub machinegun, firing 5.45mm rounds from a 30 round magazine. It has decent accuracy and high damage for a sub machinegun which makes it a versitile weapons platform for most situations.

FN P90
The FN P90 appears in the game, and is a rarely seen weapon. It is seen used as the P90SD on "All ghillied up" and is fitted with a sound-suppressor. It is also seen with rail open sights in "Heat" and "mile high club." It fires 5.7x28mm rounds from a 50 round magazine. It is moderately accuarte for an SMG but powerful. Its high rate of fire and large magazine capacity make it very useful.

M16A4
The M16A4 appears in the game, in the level "War Pig." One of the characters, Lt. Vasquez, who is Sgt. Jackson's commander in the US levels, carries an M16A4/M203 combo as his weapon of choice. In single player it is full-auto, firing 5.56x45mm rounds from a 30 round magazine. In mulitplayer it fires from a 3 round burst mode. It is also available with a 40mm single-shot M203 grenade launcher. The grenade has a safety system in which it will not arm itself until it is far from the shooter making it a dud at close range. Very poor for close-quarters combat but devastating at ranges of around 50 yards. It is an accurate and powerful rifle and is highly reccomended for use.

AK-47
The AK-47 appears in the game, and is used by virtually all the enemies. It fires 7.62x39mm rounds in a 30 round magazine. Some of them have GP-25 Kostyor 40mm muzzle loaded Grenade Launchers mounted on them. They feature a similar detenation safety as the M203 rounds meaning they are not reccommended for close quarters. It is powerful and some-what accurate and is the equivalent to the M16 rifle.

M4A1 Carbine
The M4A1 Carbine appears in the game with three versions, one is the normal A1 version used by the Marines, and fitted with an Aimpoint Scope and forward handgrip, the 2nd is the M4A1 Grenadier, which is an M4 with an EoTech Scope and M203 Grenade Launcher and another, the "SOPMOD" version fitted with an laser sight, a silencer, and M203 Grenade Launcher, and is used by the SAS. It is the carbine version of the M16 rifle and is a little less powerful and accurate due to the shortened barrel. Everything else is relatively the same.

H&K G3A4
The H&K G3A4 appears in this game and is used by many of the enemies in the game, which are the ones not using AK-47s. In Single-Player, it fires full-auto, while in multiplayer, it is semi-auto. While it is very powerful it also has a higher recoil than most guns in full auto. It fires the 7.62x51mm NATO round which differs from the AK's 7.62x39 M43 round. When operating, be sure to use short, controlled bursts or single shots to help compensate for the heavy recoil.

H&K G36
The H&K G36C appears in this game and is used by the SAS and many enemies late in the game. It has a Aimpoint Comp M2 Laser Scope in single player and open isghts in multiplayer. It comes with a 30 round 5.56mm magazine. It has a higher recoil than the comparable M4 carbine but has a slight damage advantage over the M4.

M14 Rifle
The M14 Rifle appears in multiplayer only in the game. It fires .308 caliber from a 20 round magazine and is the equivalent of the G3. It is also modified as a sniper rifle, the M21

Sturmgewehr 44
The Sturmgewehr 44 appears in multiplayer only and is unlocked at a high rank. It was the first true assualt rifle ever created firing a 7.92 kurz round in a 30 round curved box magazine. It is powerful and accurate but has high recoil. It is in the game as an ode to the previous COD games which the gun was feattured in. It is not actually used in Modern Warefare.

M21 SWS
The M21 SWS appears in this game in both silenced and non-silenced versions. It is used mainly by the SAS. It is a top of the line M14 rifle fitted with a scope and a smaller 10 shot magazine.

Remington 700
The Remington 700 appears in this game as the "R700", whilst it is very powerful, it lacks accuracy and frequently misses it's cross hair. It's heavy recoil also consumes time for a follow up shot. It is used by "Soap" McTavish prior to the chase of Zakhaev's son. It holds four bullets of unknown caliber(based on recoil, maybe .300 magnum)

Dragunov SVD
The Dragunov SVD appears in this game and is used by all enemy snipers in the game. It was designed in the 60s as a replacement in Russia for the outdated Mosin-nagant rifle. It is well known for its power, precision, and reliability. It's design is mainly based on the AK-47, but is chambered in 7.62x54R[immed] cartridges for increased range and power. It's weight makes it difficult for some scenerios. It is recommended to any player common to the sniper rifle.

M40 Sniper Rifle
The M40 sniper rifle appears in multiplayer only, and is similar in peformance to the R700. It is accurate and maybe less powerful. It fires 5 .308 rounds.

Barrett M82
The Barret M82 appears in the game, unlocked in multiplayer as a portable weapon and in a single player mission as a stationary weapon, and is the most powerful sniper rifle in the game. Captain Price, in the flashback level "One Shot, One Kill", uses a Barret M82 to shoot Zakhaev's left arm off from a mile away. The rifle was first invented after soldiers were found needing more than a single-shot .50 caliber rifle and/or bolt action. This gun allows a skilled marksman to fire off 10 rounds in 10 seconds. It is extremely accurate at long distances, powerful enough to severe limbs[but this is rare] and shoot through walls. It fires .50 caliber [12.7x99m] rounds from a 10 round box magazine. It's 30 pound weight proves a problem in combat and in usually more useful when stationary than running cross-country.

FN M249 SAW
The Fabrique National M249 SAW appears in the game, used by many Marines. The MSAW fires 100 or 250 round belt boxes of .223 caliber rounds at a rate of 850 rpms. It's accuracy is moderate and power weak, but is great for support. Hence the name Squad. Assualt. Weapon [SAW]

Degtaryev RPD
The Degtaryev RPD appears in the game, and is the LMG used by the enemies in the game. It fires 7.62x39mm rounds from a 100 round belt box. It is loud, accurate, and intimidating. It is the more convential version of the RPK rifle made more suitable for support roles.

M60E4
The M60E4 appears in the "Last Stand" at the end of the game used by one of the soldiers accompanying Zakhaev, and usable in the last level if you kill the first driver pulling up to the destroyed bridge. He jumps out armed with one ready for your use. It is also more common in multiplayer. It fires .308 rounds from a 100 round belt box. THe M60 was first used in Vietnam and had several problems. The M60E1's barrel overheated quickly requiring frequent changes, and the removal of the barrel requried some dissassembley of the weapon. The barrel had no way to remove it except to grab directly to the barrel(which would be most likely red hot). It also was somewhat unreliable. (No soldiers were complaining thoguh because they no longer had to lug their 30 lb. 1919s anymore.) The M60E2 was a mounted gun that was indiffrent to the E1 in function. The M60E3 had a shortened barrel, a more reliable system, a forgrip, and an easy to remove barrel. Although the shorter barrel overheated even faster, the easy removal system made it less of a hassle. The M60E4, the ingame model, had slight modifications to make it the best gun of them all. The M60 is very accurate for a LMG and very powerful. It is highly reccomended as long as you know when to reload.

M18A1 Claymore Mine
The M18A1 Claymore Mine appears as a weapon the player can set for ambushing enemies. The claymore is directional, firing 100s of steel balls forward at the victim, killing whatever steps infront of it. [Hence stamp on side back saying "BACK" and front side saying "FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY".]

GE M134 Minigun
The GE M134 Minigun appears as a player-usable stationary weapon
mounted on a downed helicopter and is used by a door gunner on a blackhawk in the prologue level and in "The Sins of The Father" level. The minigun holds the world record for cyclic rate in a weapon using an functioning action [Metal storm holds the new title for non-function as all rounds are fired at once in stacks]. It fires at a rate ranging from 3000-6000 RPM depending on model. It fires either .308 or .223 also depending on model.

FGM-148 Javelin
A common weapon that the player will use is the FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank guided missile launcher. It is a guided tank buster and very effective at piercing straight down into the tank chasis. It is single shot but ingame it holds unlimited rounds.

Mk 19 40mm grenade launcher
The Mk 19 grenade launcher appears as a player usable weapon mounted on a CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter. It was first developed in Vietnam and fires 40mm grenades off of a belt link. It overheated very rapidly though and is recommended for use in single shots.

FIM-92 Stinger Missile Launcher
This weapon is useable in the single-player campaign as an SAS operative. Its used by Corporal "Soap" McTavish to shoot down an enemy helicopter.
