Ultimate Force was a British Television show that ran from 2002-2006. It centered around 'Red Troop', a crack SAS (Special Air Service) unit that was given the task of defending Britain from Terrorist threats in the Post 9/11 World. One of the creators was former SAS soldier Chris Ryan, and as such, has many elements of the real world SAS within the show. One criticism was the show's deference to "political correctness" when it had a female character joining the frontline SAS unit and engaging in front line combat, which would never happen in real life (even in today's mixed gender armed services).
SIG-Sauer P226
The SIG-Sauer P226 is the preferred sidearm of Red Troop and is used throughout the series. It is seen most prominently in Episode 1.5, "The Killing of a One-Eyed Bookie" in the hands of Sgt. Henno Garvie (Ross Kemp), who uses his P226 to take down several Kalashnikov-toting IRA terrorists during an ambush.

In some episodes, the smaller SIG-Sauer P228 also makes appearances in the hands of Red Troop, most notably in Episode 2.2, "Mad Dogs", when Henno, Jamie, and Ricky are all seen firing them on the range.

In Episodes 2.1 and 2.3, Jamie is seen using the SIG-Sauer P225 as his sidearm, even though this pistol is a dated design with a smaller magazine capacity than the P226s and P228s which Red Troop usually uses on the show.
Beretta 92
In Episode 1.2, "Just A Target", one of the anti-globalization terrorists uses what appears to be a very early Beretta 92, as referenced by the fact that it has a rounded trigger guard and a frame-mounted safety on one side only. It may also be a very early Taurus PT92, which was identical to the original Beretta 92.
Heckler & Koch MP5A3
The standard-issue weapons for the SAS unit Red Troop in the TV show are Heckler & Koch MP5A3 submachine guns, which are always seen with Surefire fore ends and tactical flashlights as well as the SEF-style lower receiver. These weapons are typically used in Red Troop's domestic hostage rescue missions.

The other SAS unit, Blue Troop, also use identical weapons, as do many Metropolitan Police SO-19 (now CO-19) constables throughout the show.
Red Troop also makes use of the suppressed Heckler & Koch MP5SD3 on some missions where maintaining a low profile is preferable in order to avoid alerting terrorists to their presence. These weapons are featured most prominently in Episode 2.5, "What in the Name of God" when Red Troop invades the stronghold of a Christian cult terrorist group to capture their leader.
The version seen in the show is always the "KA1" variation, a version designed for concealed carry (it lacks the H&K diopter sights in order to avoid getting snagged on clothing when being drawn quickly from beneath a jacket).
M16 series rifles
For overseas missions where hostages and CQB are not important considerations, Red Troop uses several models in the M16 rifle series, ranging from the very earliest M16 (SP1) to the M16A2, though in nearly all cases, their rifles seem to be fitted with the handguards of M16A2s. They also use Cobray 37mm Launchers (to impersonate the M203) quite frequently.

CAR-15/M16 carbine series
Red Troop also uses CAR-15/M16 carbine variations on its overseas missions which, like the full-size M16s they are also seen using, often have fake M203 grenade launchers mounted under the barrels.

Throughout Season 3, Henno often uses a CAR-15 with an M203 of unknown variant. It looks like an XM177E2, except that it has a brass deflector on the receiver.

Model 733 CAR-15s (with 11.5-inch barrels and M16A2-style receivers) are used in several episodes, most notably Episode 3.4, "Weapon of Choice".
Heckler & Koch HK33
Another weapon which appears regularly in the series is the Heckler & Koch HK33, and more specifically, the HK33A3 folding-stock variant. Red Troop typically uses these weapons with claw mounts and scopes as semi-automatic sniper rifles (i.e. Episode 1.5, "The Killing of a One-Eyed Bookie" and 3.4, "Weapon of Choice"). They also appear in the hands of French special forces in Episode 2.1, "Communication".

AK-47/AKM variations
Many AK-47 and AKM variants appear in the series in the hands of terrorists, rebel groups, and Third World armies. Red Troop also use AKs sometimes when they are out of ammunition for their own weapons, or when other weapons are not available.

Typical of most movies and TV shows made in the West, the Chinese Norinco Type 56 (particularly the folding-stock Type 56-1) is the most frequently-seen Kalashnikov derivative in the series.

AKM rifles (or possibly Egyptian MISR copies or some other derivative) also appear in many episodes.

Also common in the show are Yugoslav Zastava M70B1 and M70B2 assault rifles (i.e. Episode 1.5, "The Killing of a One-Eyed Bookie", and Henno also uses an M70B1 in Episode 1.6, "Something to Do with Justice"). These are Yugoslavian AKM variants with folding ladder sights for launching grenades.

Colt M4A1 or something similiar. We start seeing these in season 4. I've only watched episode 1 of season 4, will replace some of the caps with others if they show up in the rest of the season. They might not be real M4s judging from the barrels. Everyone's in that episode except Louis had these M4s. Jem's Car-15 was selected either because they ran out of M4s or because his was able to attach an M203.

Becca's has a 16-inch barrel, so it may be a Colt Law Enforcement Carbine (like the one in I Am Legend). Henno's appears to have correct barrel length.
Castle takes a butterfly knife off of Joan's ex-boyfriend and uses it through out the film, notably when fighting The Russian, who turns it against him and stabs him in the shoulder. Thomas Jane was taught how to do tricks with the knife, and cleary was taught well, as he flawlessly spins the knife in the film several times.
Some simple kitchens knives are used in the film. Castle Sr. uses one to stab a hitter in the back and Joan is seen holding one when her ex-boyfriend is trying to get into her apartment.
When Harry Heck totals Castle's car, he pulls a Stilleto Knife from his ankle, which Heck remarks, "You are one dumb sonavabitch, bringin' a knife to a gunfight," to which Castle responds by launching the blade from the knife into Heck's throat. However as of season two episode 3 during an encounter and fight with the assassin, Pinocchio who beat and in turn stole the stainless P230SL from Triela. Hilshire replaced it by giving her a black Sig P232.
M1 Garand
Perhaps the most commonly seen weapon in the movie, the M1 Garand is used by the majority of the U.S. soldiers seen in the film. The M1 Garand is easily identified by the characteristic ping it makes ejecting its clip after the last round in the en bloc clip is fired. Based on the way everyone can hold these weapons easily, they seem to be light weight models for easy handling in the film, which cuts the realism down a bit.

M1A1 Thompson
The M1A1 Thompson or "fast gun" appears several times in the film, primarily as the main weapon of Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks). It is also used by Captain Fred Hamill (Ted Danson) to end a standoff between Miller's men and a group of German soldiers they had stumbled upon. The M1 Thompson was too expensive to produce by the Normandy invasion and the cheaper M1A1, which simply attached the firing pin to the bolt, made it far easier for mass production as well as cheap too. They were far more commonly issued with 30 round magazines, which is evident on Miller's Thompson.

There are several appearances of the M1911A1 pistol, in the hands of Horvath (Tom Sizemore) and Miller (Tom Hanks), as well as other members of the squad. Horvath uses it to threaten PFC Richard Reiben (Edward Burns) when he threatens to abandon his squad, later throwing it at a German during the final battle when he runs out of ammo. Miller is seen firing it at an advancing Tiger tank as he lies wounded on the bridge in one of the film's more memorable moments.
M1 Bazooka
The M1 Bazooka rocket launcher makes several appearances in Saving Private Ryan. It is first seen in the hands of a U.S. Army soldier under the command of Captain Hamill. Later we see Private James F. Ryan (Matt Damon) use an M1 Bazooka to destroy a German half-track. This same Bazooka is later used by Horvath during the final battle to destroy a German Marder self-propelled gun and again in an attempt to destroy a Tiger tank, but unfortunately for our protagonists the rocket is deflected by the tanks' heavy armor.
Springfield 1903A4
The squad's sharpshooter, Private Daniel Jackson (Barry Pepper), carries the sniper version of the Springfield 1903, the 1903A4 bolt-action rifle. The differences include the deletion of the front sight, and the addition of a scope. Jackson is famous for quoting religious scriptures when shooting the rifle, and shooting a German sniper through his own scope similar to a feat accomplished by Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock in the Vietnam War, although the bullet drop at 400yds would make it impossible to clear all the scope lenses, while Hathcock was far closer to his target, as well as looking down at said target (Hathcock was on a hill, while the enemy sniper was at the base). Jackson clearly has trouble cycling the gun throughout the film due to him being a lefty and the gun being built for right handed shooters. Perhaps he should have found a better method of working the bolt instead of reaching over and shaking the bolt until the extractor ejected the spent shell.
Faulty Scope
During the belltower sequence, Jackson fires an incredible seven shots from his five shot Springfield, many of which miss their target do to quite possibly the most innaccurate rifle ever. His Unertl scope is probably so off because he didn't zero it when switching it with his other scope.
Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2
As the squad's support gunner, PFC Richard Reiben (Edward Burns) carries a Browning Automatic Rifle M1918A2 or "B.A.R" as his main weapon. The B.A.R. Reiben carries is not his originally issued one, which he claims he lost during the start of the D-Day landing to keep from drowning, and has the bipod removed, making it more into an assault rifle instead of a Light Machine Gun. Further supporting this theory is how he fires it on the rapid full-auto fire mode instead of the more efficient slow auto-fire used for support. Reports have said like the M1 Garands in the film, this B.A.R. was lightened for easier use by the actors, making it far easier to shoulder fire the weapon as an assault rifle. (periods have been added to the B.A.R. abbreviations to make sure no one refers to the weapon incorrectly as a "Bar".)
As common with the German soldiers as the M1 Garand is with the Americans, the Karabiner 98k bolt-action rifle is the standard-issue weapon of the German Army. Soldiers during the battle in Rammelle line up armed almost entirely with Kar98k rifles, including Steamboat Willie, who mortally wounds Cpt. Miller with his 98k rifle.
During the final assault in Rammelle, a German soldier can be seen using Luger P08 pistol when facing off with Sgt. Horvath and is killed but still manages to wound him with it. == Sticky Bomb ==

While planning the defense of Ramelle, Captain Miller comes up with a unique improvised explosive device he calls a "sticky bomb". It consists of a sock filled with Composition-B explosive with a fuse attached and covered in grease so it sticks where it's placed. Deploying it is a hazardous proposition though; as one soldier is killed when the fuse runs out while he is trying to place it one one of the German tanks, though the bombs do succeed in immobilizing one Tiger tank by destroying its treads.
M1911A1
There are several appearances of the M1911A1 pistol, in the hands of Horvath (Tom Sizemore) and Miller (Tom Hanks), as well as other members of the squad.

Among the weapons used by the defenders during the final battle are a pair of Browning M2 M1919A1 or "Browning .30 caliber" machine guns. Both guns eventually run out of ammunition, their users being killed by the Germans. == Karabiner 98k ==

Karbiner 98k Sniper
One german sniper is seen armed with a Karabiner 98k sniper rifle fitted with a Zeiss scope with a rubber light blocking eye cover (which despite goof reports, is at proper eye relief with him resting his eye on it) and covered in makeshift straw camouflage who mortally wounds PFC Adrian Caparzo (Vin Diesel) before being killed himself by Private Jackson (Barry Pepper). Jackson shoots the German sniper through his scope, a reference to a shot made by Carlos Norman Hathcock II (a legendary Marine Corps Sniper) during the Vietnam War.
MG42
The German MG42 machine gun makes several appearances in the film; first in bunkers overlooking Omaha Beach during the D-Day landings, then in a machine gun nest at the base of a radar site the squad encounters. The ensuing firefight at the radar site costs them their medic, Cpl. Irwin Wade (Giovanni Ribisi).
Luger P08
During the final assault in Rammelle, a German soldier can be seen using Luger P08 pistol when facing off with Sgt. Horvath and is killed but still manages to wound him with it. His rank must be high because only high ranking officers still used Lugers in WWII. Walther P38 pistols had phased out Lugers as standard sidearms by that time.

Flak 38
A German Flak 38 is crewed by several SS soldiers during the final battle at Ramelle and delivers devastating 20mm flak rounds on Captain Miller's (Tom Hanks) men. It is finally brought down when PFC. Reiben (Edward Burns) flanks it from above and takes out the whole crew single-handedly with his B.A.R.

Model 24 Stielhandgranate
During the final battle of the film, Private Stanley Mellish (Adam Goldberg) and Corporal Henderson (Maximilian Martini) get several Model 24 Stielhandgranates thrown at them while manning one of the M1919A4 machine guns. Thankfully the two are able to grab and toss the grenades clear before they detonate.

Panzerschreck
During the final battle, one of the German soldiers can be seen carrying a Panzerschreck or "Tank Terror" rocket launcher, but is killed before his weapon can be brought to bear.

MP40
Yet another German weapon in the film is the MP40. It's not very often seen, mostly in the scene where Miller's men stumble on a group of German soldiers, and again during the final battle scene in Rammelle.

M2 Mortar
At the final battle in Ramelle Private Ryan (Matt Damon) and Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) arm 60mm M2 Mortars by banging them against the steel launching base of the mortar tube and throw them like hand grenades at advancing SS soldiers, scoring several kills.

Sticky Bomb
While planning the defense of Ramelle, Captain Miller comes up with a unique improvised explosive device he calls a "sticky bomb". It consists of a sock filled with Composition-B explosive with a fuse attached and covered in grease so it sticks where it's placed. Deploying it is a hazardous proposition though; as one soldier is killed when the fuse runs out while he is trying to place it one one of the German tanks, though the bombs do succeed in immobilizing one Tiger tank by destroying its treads.
Mk-II No. 75 Hawkins Grenade/Mine
Prior to the climactic battle Cpl. Henderson relays to Cpt. Miller that their arsenal of "spitwads" includes Hawkins mines. Later a 101st Airborne soldier is seen placing one on the main street and camouflaging it.
