Beretta M92F
The Beretta M92F features prominently in the film as the main weapon of Detective John McClaine (Bruce Willis). At one point, McClaine's nemesis Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) gets ahold of it, albeit with no ammo in the magazine which enables McClaine to figure out who Hans is, and another terrorist gets ahold of it during a fight near the end of the film. Another Beretta can also be seen being used by one of the SWAT members involved in the ill-fated raid on the Nakatomi Building.

Heckler & Koch P7
The primary villian of the film, Hans Gruber carries a stainless steel Heckler & Koch P7 as his main weapon. The most notable scenes involving it include Gruber threatening and then killing Joseph Tagaki (James Shigeta) and Harry Ellis (Hart Bochner) with it, and then brandishing it at the climax of the film, holding McClaine's wife Holly (Bonnie Bedelia) at gunpoint and then falling to his death still holding it. When he first brings out the weapon while threatening Takagi, Gruber can be seen removing a stainless steel silencer from the pistol.

Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Another frequently-seen weapon in the film is the Heckler & Koch MP5A3 9 mm. These are often considered the Rolls Royces of submachine guns (they are more than twice the price of an M16 Rifle) and are used primarily by Gruber's men (and occasionally Gruber himself). When Gruber gives the order for his two men in the lobby to only wound the SWAT trying to break in, that might have prevented much bloodshed, as the MP5 has a much higher rate of fire and its compact size makes it more maneuverable in CQB compared to the SWAT's M16s.

McClain manages to comandeer one from one of the terrorists, informing his comrades of this by leaving a note on the corpse saying that "Now I've got a machine gun". At one point, McClain extends the stock hoping to use it as an anchor so he can descend down the elevator shaft via the sling, though the sling doesn't support his weight for long, soon coming undone and sending him falling into the shaft before he catches himself on the opening of an air vent. He then procures another MP5 from another slain terrorist, using it for the remainder of the film.

Steyr AUG
One of the most unique weapons in the film, as the writers are contrasting the terrorists' exotic European weapons versus the American's, the Steyr AUG assault rifle's bullpup design enables a decent barrel length in a compact design, and it also has a scope as standard equipment. The AUG is used by Karl (Alexander Godunov) during his personal mission to get revenge against McClaine after he killed the first terrorist, who happened to be his brother. In a memorable scene of the film, a bloodied and left-for-dead Karl emerges from the rubble of the Nakatomi Building with his AUG in hand, hell-bent on killing McClaine, only to be killed by three shots from Sergeant Al Powell (Reginald VelJohnson)'s police revolver.

M60E3
Another weapon in the terrorists' arsenal, an M60E3 machine gun is the weapon used by the terrorists to turn Sgt. Powell's police car into "swiss cheese" after McClaine throws a dead terrorist out of a window and onto the hood of his car. It is also used to shoot out spotlights during the attempted SWAT raid on the Nakatomi building. Another M60 can be seen being used by the door gunner of the gunship helicopter used by the FBI Agents.

M16 Rifle
When the SWAT team makes their ill-fated raid on the Nakatomi building, they can be seen carrying M16 assault rifles. However, the terrorists have monitored their not-so-clandestine movements thanks to the building's closed-circuit camera network, and the SWAT are using "by-the-book" tactics. Furthermore, the SWAT team's M16 rifles despite their power are notably bulky and do not handle easily in CQB. The officers waste time and make themselves more vulnerable by first attempting to pick the lock and then using a blowtorch, whereas a modern SWAT team would have used breaching charges. As the terrorists have such an advantage, Gruber only sends two men to deal with the intruders, and a few bursts of fire from their MP5s is enough to cause the SWAT to back down. Not one shot is fired by any of the SWAT officers.

M40 sniper rifle
During the rooftop scene near the end of the movie, FBI Special Agent Johnson (Robert Davi) attempts to shoot McClain with an M40 sniper rifle fitted with a night-vision scope, mistaking him for one of the terrorists. Before Johnson can fire the fatal shot, the bombs planted on the roof are detonated, the fireball engulfing his helicopter.

Walther PPK
During the takeover of the Nakatomi Building, Karl can be seen using a silenced Walther PPK to kill the security guard at the front desk and by the elevators. He later has it without the silencer when he hears McClaine leave following Takagi's death and goes to investigate.

"Hockey Puck" Flash-Bang
During the takeover of the Nakatomi building, the terrorists use flash-bang grenades shaped like hockey pucks to disorient the guard by the elevators long enough for Karl to kill him. One of these weapons is also used during the gun battle that ensues after McClaine and Gruber's first meeting when the terrorists are attempting to pin down McClaine by shattering the glass windows surrounding him.

Smith & Wesson Model 15
At the end of the film, McClaine finally gets to meet Powell in person and is introducing him to his wife when Karl suddenly emerges from the rubble of the Nakatomi Building intent on killing McClaine but three shots from Powell's Smith & Wesson Model 15 finally put him down once and for all, the first shots Powell has fired since accidentally killing a kid sometime in his past.

Colt Commando
During the bank robbery Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) carry Colt Commando carbines, which are also designated as M733. They are ultra-compact versions of the M16 rifle family with 11.5-inch barrels, being smaller and shorter than the M16A2 Rifle (20-inch) and M4 Carbine (14.5-inch). The lighter encumbrance comes at a tradeoff of reduced range and accuracy, which is appropriate since the Commandos can be fired from inside the vehicle, the robbers burdened by loads of cash, and because the firefight takes place at close to medium distances. The M733s have full automatic and semi-auto fire modes, while retaining the penetration of the 5.56 mm round of its big brothers, which is particularly deadly as they are capable of wounding officers and bystanders even through objects normally considered safe cover. They handle similarly to submachine guns, being less accurate but much more powerful.

Not surprisingly, Shiherlis uses the M733s to great effect, killing Bosko (Ted Levine), a member of Hanna's detectives, in a brief exchange of fire. After the getaway ride is disabled, Shiherlis sprays the police barricade with dozens of rounds, shooting up the LAPD patrol cars and bringing down at several officers. McCauley also uses it to shoot a pursuing patrolman while carjacking a Ford Taurus Wagon to escape.
At one point, McClaine's nemesis Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) gets ahold of it, albeit with no ammo in the magazine which enables McClaine to figure out who Hans is, and another terrorist gets ahold of it during a fight near the end of the film and shoots McClaine in the shoulder with it.

When Gruber gives the order for his two men in the lobby to only wound the SWAT trying to break in, that might have prevented much bloodshed, as the MP3 has a much higher rate of fire and its compact size makes it more effective in CQB compared to the SWAT's M16's.

M16 Rifle
When the SWAT team makes their ill-fated raid on the Nakatomi building, they can be seen carrying M16 assault rifles, though it is not clear whether it they are of A1 or A2 variants. However, the terrorists have monitored their not-so-clandestine movements thanks to the building's closed-circuit camera network, and the SWAT are using "by-the-book" tactics. Furthermore, the SWAT team's M16 rifles despite their power are notably bulky and not the best for CQB, and they waste time and make themselves more vulnerable by attempting to pick the lock and then using a blowtorch (a modern SWAT team would have used breaching charges).

"Hockey Puck" Flash-Bang
During the takeover of the Nakatomi building, the terrorists use flash-bang grenades shaped like hockey pucks to disorient the guard bythe elevators long enough for Karl to kill him.

The M733s have full automatic and semi-auto fire modes, while retaining the penetration of the 5.56 mm round of its big brothers, making it much more potent than a submachine gun.

Several M16 assault rifles feature prominently in Heat.

It is difficult to determine the exact model, though it appears that the weapon depicted below is an M-16A1 variant - notice the narrower barrel profile and lack of A2-style rear sight adjustment wheel. The handguards are, in fact, of the cylindrical A2 variety (as opposed to the triangular A1 style), but these are easily changed between models and have no effect on the operation of the weapon.

The M16 is powerful and accurate, but it is also large and heavy and is shown not to have full automatic fire, making it less useful at close ranges.
They are ultra-compact versions of the M16 rifle family with 11.5-inch barrels, being smaller and shorter than the M16A2 Rifle (20-inch) and M4 Carbine (14.5-inch). The reduced encumbrance comes at a tradeoff of reduced range and accuracy, which is appropriate since the robbers are carrying loads of cash and as the firefight takes place at close to medium distances. The M733s have full automatic and semi-auto fire modes, while retaining the penetration of the 5.56 mm round of its big brothers, making it much more potent than a submachine gun.
After the getaway ride is disabled, Shiherlis sprays the police barricade with dozens of rounds, shooting up the LAPD patrol cars and bringing down at several officers.

Beretta M92F
The Beretta M92F features prominently in the film as the main weapon of Detective John McClaine (Bruce Willis). At one point, McClaine's nemesis Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) gets ahold of it, albeit with no ammo in the magazine which enables McClaine to figure out who Hans is.

Heckler & Koch P7
The primary villian of the film, Hans Gruber carries a Heckler & Koch P7 as his main weapon. The most notable scenes involving it include Gruber threatening and then killing Joe Tagaki (James Shigeta) with it, and then brandishing it at the climax of the film, holding McClaine's wife at gunpoint and then falling to his death still holding it.

Heckler & Koch MP5A3
Another frequently-seen weapon in the film is the Heckler & Koch MP5A3. Used primarily by Gruber's men (and occasionally Gruber himself), McClain manages to comandeer one from one of the terrorists, informing his comrades of this by leaving a note on the corpse saying that "Now I've got a machine gun". At one point, McClain extends the stock hoping to use it as an anchor so he can teether down the elevator shaft, though the stock doesn't support his weight for long...

Steyr AUG
One of the most unique weapons in the film, the Steyr AUG is used by Karl (Alexander Godunov) during his personal mission to get revenge against McClaine for killing one of the terrorists, whom happened to be his brother. In a memorable scene of the film, a bloodied and left-for-dead Karl emerges from the rubble of the Nakatomi Building with his AUG in hand, hell-bent on killing McClaine, only to be killed by three shots from Sergeant Powell's police revolver.

M60E3
Another weapon in the terrorists' arsenal, an M60E3 machine gun is the weapon used by the terrorists to turn Officer Al Powell (Reginald VelJohnson)'s police car into "swiss cheese" after McClaine throws a dead terrorist out of a window and onto the hood of his car.

M16 Rifle
When the SWAT team makes their ill-fated raid on the Nakatomi building, they can be seen carrying M16 rifles, likely of the A2 variant with semi-auto and three shot burst fire modes. The raid goes so badly that not one shot is fired by any of the SWAT officers.

Colt 1911 .45 pistol
These are also carried by the LAPD SWAT team.

M40 sniper rifle
During the rooftop scene near the end of the movie, FBI Special Agent Johnson (Robert Davi) attempts to shoot McClain with an M40 sniper rifle, mistaking him for one of the terrorists. Before Johnson can fire the fatal shot, the bombs planted on the roof are detonated, the fireball engulfing his helicopter.

Others have suggested that this is a Heckler & Koch G3/SG-1 Sniper Rifle, which can be fired on full automatic mode.

Walther PPK
During the takeover of the Nakatomi Building, Karl can be seen using a silenced Walther PPK to kill the security guard at the front desk.

"Hockey Puck" Flash-Bang
During the takeover of the Nakatomi building, the terrorists use flash-bang grenades shaped like hockey pucks to disorient the guards long enough for the terrorists to kill them. One of these weapons is also used during the gun battle that ensues after McClaine and Gruber's first meeting when the terrorists are attempting to pin down McClaine by shattering the glass windows surrounding him.
M16A2
Several M16 assault rifles feature prominently in Heat, being of the A2 variant which feature semi-auto and three-shot burst fire modes modes. In the bank robbery's ensuing shootout various LAPD officers, including Detective Casals (Wes Studi), carry and fire M16A2 rifles. Casals uses it to assist in disabling McCauley's getaway vehicle (a Lincoln Town Car) and injure Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) during the gun battle.

Colt Commando
During the bank robbery Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) and Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) carry M16A2 Colt Commando carbines, which are also designated as M733. They are ultra-compact versions of the M16 rifle family with 11.5-inch barrels, being smaller and shorter than the M16A2 Rifle (20-inch) and M4 Carbine (14.5-inch). The M733s have full automatic and semi-auto fire modes, while retaining the penetration of the 5.56 mm round at medium-close range.

Not surprisingly, Shiherlis uses the M733s to great effect, killing Bosko (Ted Levine), a member of Hanna's detectives, in a brief exchange of fire. After the getaway ride is disabled, Shiherlis sprays the police barricade with dozens of rounds, shooting up the LAPD patrol cars and bringing down at least two officers. McCauley also uses it to shoot a pursuing patrolman while attempting to carjack a Ford Taurus Wagon.
