Nemesis' Minigun
One of the two weapons The Nemesis (Matthew G. Taylor) uses is a customized Minigun with shortened barrels, individual flash hiders for each of the barrels, a green laser sight, custom aluminum barrel shroud and furniture featuring a fictitious ammo counter on the side. This is the first movie Minigun designed to be fired one handed. Unlike previous films featuring these weapons, the ammunition is fed from the weapon off screen rather than carried on the actor's back. In wide shots where Nemesis doesn't fire the weapon, the ammo chute leads into the back of his trench coat. In movie land the weapon supposedly has 5000 rounds loaded, though the two ammo cans left in the shipping container imply that he has no more than 400 rounds minus the three or four linked rounds he left behind. In reality the gun had about 200 rounds loaded in the ammo chute, and the armorers attached a larger ammo can to the chute for scenes were they needed more sustained fire. In wide shots where Nemesis doesn't fire the weapon, the end of the chute is secured inside the actor's trench coat. In a continuity error, when he sets down his weapons for the final hand-to-hand fight with Alice, the Minigun doesn't have a chute installed at all, however, it does moments later when he uses it to destroy the Umbrella security detail. In addition to the weapon's fake ammo counter, the Nemesis also has a HUD that shows his health and weapon status for both the Minigun and the rocket launcher much like in a first person shooter. Surprisingly the ammo displayed on the weapon's ammo counter is not only consistent with what displays in Nemesis' POV HUD shots, but the numbers also imply a consistent on screen fire rate of about 4200 RPM. In reality the weapon was firing at a much slower rate, probably no more than the 1250 RPM of the Predator/T2 gun. The film's armorer, (Al Vrkljan), has commented the following on our forum.

"The M134 mini was really simple, we just made our own barrels at 12 inches and also made a shorter barrel clamp.
Then the rest was furniture machined from aluminum to make it lighter, 60-80 pounds total, then we attached a feed chute that held 200 rnds in the chute and there you have it.
It was fired by one arm, so take that Arnie.
For extended firing, the ammo can was below camera frame, the longest burst was when he was taking out the stars unit, did about 15 seconds straight and that was a very long 15 seconds, funny watching the brass and link build up around his ankles."

Nemesis' "U-RL-012" Rocket Launcher
This shipping crate for this weapon is labeled U-RL-012, no doubt a model number standing for "Umbrella Rocket Launcher." According to Nemesis' HUD the weapon is loaded with six rockets, which is precisely how many he fires in the film before being killed.

This custom prop Rocket launcher is the Nemesis' alternate weapon. The launcher (like many movie rocket or missile launchers in movies) is a custom prop, designed and built from scratch. Since no rocket launcher in Hollywood actually fires real deadly rockets, the launcher has to only hold the 'flash' launch mechanism that the special effects people/pyrotechnicians require for the shot.
An Umbrella sniper (cameo role of director Alexander Witt) on top of Raccoon City's city hall (Actually Toronto City Hall) was about to use it to shoot Carlos when Alice popped up and surprised the man. == Nemesis' Minigun ==

NOTE: IMFDB really needs someone who is good with the AW rifles and can tell the more subtle variants apart from each other - i.e. L96 from AW and AWM, AWP from AICS, etc. This page was crap before, treating every AW variant as if it were the L96 (which is the British service version) and eschewing the other variants. However, I don't know enough about the platform to tell them apart, and distinguish between them all in the movies where they appear. So anyone who wants to help out, please do. The "Arctic Warfare Police", The AWP rifle has a stiffer and shorter 610mm (24") barrel to maximise precision. Usual calibres are .243 Win (1 in 10 twist) and .308 Win (1 in 12 twist). The rifle is designed to perform best with match-grade ammunition. Butt length can be adjusted to suit the firer by using spacers. The AWP differs to other models, in that it's the only AW weapon system to have a black finish.

How to distinguish-The Basics
1st off for any one confused with whether a rifle is an R700 in an AICS chassis or an Accuracy international, look at the bolt! the AI l96 series uses a ball shape bolt at the end of a round piece of metal while the R700 uses a flat "Tab" bolt handle.

PM/L96A1:The PM, the Grandpops of all the Arctic Warfare series, it is robust and is in 7.62 NATO. It was called the l96A1 by the Brit military until its replacement by the AWSM, the Super Magnum.

AW: The AW is the standard Arctic Warfare, it is only chambered in 7.62 NATO and .243, and has the smallest frame of all the AW series.

AWM: The AWM is the Arctic Warfare Magnum, slightly larger feed and operating system, due to it being chambered in .300 Win. Mag.

IMPORTANT: A surefire way to tell a standard AW from an AW magnum. Look at the magazine! The magnum is .300 WM so the magazine is clearly longer than the standard AW in 7.62 NATO.!!!

AWP: The AWP is for Police, so AWP standing for Arctic Warfare Police. It is always black, not olive drab or tan. It also has a shorter 24 in (610 mm) barrel in comparison to AW model. The AWP is normally chambered for 7.62 mm NATO/.308 Winchester or .243 Winchester ammunition. The AWP is similar to the AW AE which has a black finish, but is a cheaper non-military version of the AW series.

AWS: The AWS(Arctic Warfare Suppressed) is simply a standard AW in 7.62 NATO, with an elongated barrel with an attached suppressor, which unfortunately gives it the effectiveness of a .22 Magnum.

AWC: The AWC is the Arctic Warfare Covert. It is the Standard 7.62 AW with a folding stock, and has a Suppressor similar to a AWS but with a shorter, fatter suppressor. It is often stored and transported in a civilian suitcase.

AWSM: The Arctic Warfare Super magnum, the AWSM is the AW magnum in .338 Lapua. it is the G22 in the German military.

AW50: The AW50 is a AW Magnum chambered in .50 BMG, it's extremely large loading system distinguishes it from others.

AW50F: AW50F is the same as a AW50 except with a folding stock and a Madco custom barrel. This kind is uncommon because it is only used by the Australian Military.

AE: The AE is cheap alternative to the PM/L96. it is made of cheaper materials and less ergonomic, it is simply a meant for police practice and target shooting.

I did my best, researched, and produced. i hope this provides lots of help! Thanks!User:SargeOverkill

It's also worth noting that the L96A1 has a rectangular stock, unlike the rest of the of the AW range. In fact it's the only AW rifle to have a rectangular stock, thus should be the easiest to identify. --GazWhale 19:50, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
