The M9 Bazooka was the standard Anti-Tank rocket for the US military during WW2, excellent against bunkers and buildings though its effectiveness against the more heavily armored German tanks is debatable. General Eisenhower remarked that the atom bomb, jeep, C-47 Sky Train and the Bazooka were the four weapons that won the war. The Bazooka was copied by the Germans as the "Panzerschreck" launcher from a M1 Bazooka captured in North Africa. Generally operated by a two man crew (One Gunner, One Loader) crews quickly figured out that they needed to hit the side, rear or belly armour of armored vehicles, as shown in the episode "Carentan" (The episode also shows how the Bazooka rounds would simply deflect off the heavy frontal armour). Adopted by Germany in 1942, in an effort to reduce the machining time and cost inherent in the production of the MG-34, the MG-42 is perhaps the deadliest machinegun used during the war. With a fire rate of 1200 rounds per minute, individual shots are mostly non-discernable. The demoralizing and pschycological effect of its very sound prompted the U.S. to make a training film for troops who would encounter it.<br />
Unlike the MG-34, the MG-42 has a receiver made from a series of stampings, instead of the finely machined components encountered in the MG-34. <br />
The gun is fed from a 50-round belt just as with the MG-34. These belts can be linked together for upwards of 250 continuous rounds from one can, with any number of cans in tow given the situation or position. <br />
The gun is chambered in the 7.92X57 Mauser cartridge, the same cartridge used in the well known K98k infantry rifles, and ammunition is interchangeable, although machinegun ammunition was often slightly more powerful in order to avoid jams and run the guns mechanism more reliably.<br />
It can be used with a fold-up bipod, or with the more complicated Lafette tripod, which could have scope-optics and remote control firing capabilities.<br />
Its downfalls were its high rate of fire, which exhausted ammunition supplies very quickly, and this was very apparent on the Russian front, where the weather often delayed much needed supplies.<br />
It's most effective use (as with most machineguns) was not in sweeping fire but in concentrated direct fire using the shortest burst possible, and directing these bursts over the intended area.<br />

Hi! I'm 13 and was trying to find info about a Colt New Service and found this site. It was an instant hit for me and loved it. <br />
I've been a gun fan, every since I first watched Dr. No when I was 8 or 9. I became obsessed with the Walther PPK, the main gun in the movie. After that was when I got into guns and started to research about them during my spare time. Today, I'm a big gun nut, and my favorite gun manufacturers today are probably Colt, Walther and Winchester. <br />
Guns aren't my only obsession. I also enjoy reading and writing about military history, as well as the guns they used. I'm more of an outdoors kind of guy, and enjoy hiking in the woods.<br />

Hi! I'm 13 and was trying to find info about a Colt New Service and found this site. It was an instant hit for me and loved it. <br />
I've been a gun fan, every since I first watched Dr. No when I was 8 or 9. I became obsessed with the Walther PPK, the main gun in the movie. After that was when I got into guns and started to research about them during my spare time. Today, I'm a big gun nut, and my favorite gun manufacturers today are probably Colt, Walther and Winchester. <br />
Guns aren't my only obsession. I also enjoy reading and writing about military history, as well as the guns they used. I'm more of an outdoors kind of guy, and enjoy hiking in the woods.<br />

I don't know the model of it, but the first gun that I got (and still own) is a single-shot breech loading Savage .410 shotgun. I've used it to hunt grouse before.<br />

I got this .22 rifle for my birthday. I was told that it's the most reliable .22 rifle available. It came with a bushnell scope, and have 4 magaziens for it (two 10 round and two 25 round mags).<br />

I have the rarer .25-35 version of this gun (most models of the 1894 use .30-30 shells). This gun was built in the late 1800s (it's a very old gun) and it first belonged to be great grandfather, who passed it down to my grandfather, who then passed it down to my dad, who just recently passed it down to me. I've gone deer hunting with it, and this gun carries 5 rounds.<br />

Hi! I'm 13 and was trying to find info about a Colt New Service and found this site. It was an instant hit for me and loved it. <br />
I've been a gun fan, every since I first watched Dr. No when I was 8 or 9. I became obsessed with the Walther PPK, the main gun in the movie. After that was when I got into guns and started to research about them during my spare time. Today, I'm a big gun nut, and my favorite gun manufacturers today are probably Colt, Walther and Winchester. <br />
Guns aren't my only obsession. I also enjoy reading and writing about military history, as well as the guns they used. I'm more of an outdoors kind of guy, and enjoy hiking in the woods.<br />
Guns I hope to get in the future is all of the guns in my favorite guns list (some of the guns in their I already own, but I plan on getting the others). I enjoy coming to this site, and come to it nearly everyday.<br />

I have the rarer .25-35 version of this gun (most models of the 1894 use .30-30 shells). This gun was built in the late 1800s (it's a very old gun) and it first belonged to be great grandfather, who passed it down to my grandfather, who then passed it down to my dad, who just recently passed it down to me. I've gone deer hunting with it, and this gun carries 5 rounds.<br />

It is very unrealistic that he would have found a Walther PPK from a Malian soldier, and in reality it would probably have either been a Makarov PM or a PSM. I have heard other people say that the gun is a Makarov PM, but it doesn't look at all like it. As A PSM is Russian made, he could have gotten one in Mali, but look how he ejects the clip. I believe that Al's rifle during a desert battle is a Romanian WASR-3 Rifle built at the ''S.C. Uzinele Mecanice Cugir S.A.'' (Cugir Factory) in Romania. The weapon probably came from a foreign armory, but for the purposes of identification, the U.S. version of the Romanian .223 AK will be identified. The Romanians imported a series of three AK type rifles called the SAR series. <br />

I became obsessed with the Walther PPK, the main gun in the movie, but now Colt revolvers are my favorite weapons, particulary the Colt Cobra, Colt M1917 and Colt Peacemaker, because revolvers are among the most accurate, reliable, durable and best made handguns around, especially the Colts (Colt made the first revolver). But then of course, you've got to have a favorite automatic pistol as well, which for me would still probably be the Walther PPK. <br />
I also enjoy reading and writing about military history, and learning about the guns back them is fun as well. I love to go this site, but didn't know how to get a user page for quite some time, yet fortunately I finally learned how to with help from MoviePropMaster2008. <br />

I've been a gun fan, every since I first watched Dr.No when I was 8 or 9. I became obsessed with the Walther PPK, the main gun in the movie, but now Colt revolvers are my favorite weapons, particulary the Colt Cobra, Colt M1917 and Colt Peacemaker, because revolvers are among the most accurate, reliable, durable and best made handguns around, especially the Colts (Colt made the first revolver). But then of course, you've got to have a favorite automatic pistol as well, which for me would still probably be the Walther PPK. The 30-06, 25-35, .45 and .38 caliber bullets are probably my favorite type of ammunition. <br />

This gun was built in the late 1800s (it's a very old gun) and it first belonged to be great grandfather, who passed it down to my grandfather, who then passed it down to my dad, who just recently passed it down to me.
