Okay so Travis spends $815.00 on the guns and holster. That's in 1975 dollars. Adjusted for 2011 dollars you're looking at $3,420.00. Evidently Travis does ''very well'' for himself driving a Taxi. I'm not saying I doubt it. I understand that those taxi drivers can make some pretty good bank in tips alone in NYC. Wish I could walk into my favorite gunstore and plop down over $3,400 in cash. If I was careful in my selection (I like second hand guns) and haggeled with the owner I could probably walk out with five or six handguns instead of the four that Travis buys. Of course I would be buying from a legitimate business instead of some black market street dealer. Hey, my friends! These days I have watched Taxi Driver. Extraordinary movie! Robert DeNiro really knows how to be the best in the bussines. I liked a lot the weapons he used (S&W Model 29,S&W Model 36/Colt DS,Walther PPK/Astra Constable,S&W Escort/Sterling Arms). That was a 1976-style pistol arsenal. But,what 'bout a 2015-style arsenal? This is an interesting concept that I like quite a bit, and there's a lot of room for variation.
In terms of a revolver, the S&W 500 certainly gives the 8-inch 29 a run for its money. Another possible BFR could be the Ruger Redhawk/Super Redhawk in the .44 or .454. The snubnosed revolver and Ruger .380 are good choices too. One that didn't quite sell me was the P99, I don't know why but it doesn't seem to fit the style of the film and the character. At 1:31:40 there's a closeup of the underside of one of the "muzzleloaders." It looks like one of the late 1960s Spanish break action single shot .410s with a wooden shell and fake hammer. :::Man you're good, that second picture shows the stud, which is for opening the action and the hinge for the gun to fold is easily seen in the cut out wood where a fuller stock should be. I think they might all be the same set of props, one set with patchboxes and the other without, in some of those pictures I can see what looks like the same action release and a cut out in the stock. Plus it makes good sense that since they put forth the effort on those guns that they'd do the same with the rest. I'd say the Caplock Muskets are all mocked up Beretta Model 412 shotguns. The shotgun in the second pic is an Ithaca 37 based on the visible magazine end cap/barrel nut and I'd bet the other is also an Ithaca just due to their common use by California PDs and ease of reusing the same short magazine shotgun in different squad cars to get their shots. As for that revolver it's odd, it looks like a compact along the lines of a Smith and Wesson J-frame or a Colt D-frame. It's plainly got square butt grips, fairly dark wood or the "Coltwood" synthetic grips. It kind of seems like a snub nose to me, the holster just doesn't look filled out like with a longer barreled revolver. The rifle which is currently called the "Mannlicher 1895" seems to be rather a Carcano 38 which can be seen at the front barrel band. Lookt it up on surplusrifle or google. The Austrian Mannlicher 95 has a different band. Furthermore, but I am not 100% sure about this, the Austrians did not shorten the M95s before WWI. So no matter which rifle it is it is anachronistic in all cases, but it really looks like a Carcano 38.

Hi it's me again. I just saw that the rifle was positively identified as a Carcano by a recently added screenshot, showing the characteristic magazine which distinguishes the Italian Mannlicher Carcano from the Austrian Steyr Mannlicher M95. Thus the Mannlicher 95 could be removed from the "Needs positive Identification" section.

The red dead wiki has a number of weapons that are unconfirmed. They are either just hopeful or mistaken, confusing the Bordchart for a Luger and the Colt 1903/1908 for a 1911

I would like to point out, as you have seem to forgotten, that the 1911 pistol was designed and built before 1911. It was entered into trials in 1910, so it did exist before it was adopted as the M1911 by the army. That being said, unless john Marston or a gun dealer was close friends with either John M. Browning or someone involved in testing and approving the gun, it would have been extremely unlikely that he would posses the firearm. So Now that RDR has hit the streets, what do you guys think of it? I bought it thinking it would be fun, but nothing more than GTA IV in the West. Boy was I ever wrong! This has so much more to offer, and is one of the best games to come out in recent years. The combat is exciting and fun, the graphics are stunning, the story is awesome, and the sound effects are pure western! Just picking up an old Krag or SAA and capping some Mexican rebels or gang members if a hoot. The Multiplayer will keep you playing after the epic story is completed, and I think this is a game everybody should pick up. Besides minor glitches, it's perfect, 10 out of 10![[User:M14fanboy|M14fanboy]]

Looking at screenshots of the in-game MG, the grip appears to more closely resemble the Maxim model, primarily because it seems to have a trigger guard. Besides this, the MG in RDR has no bolt handle on the right side as it should if it was a Browning, and instead the ammo feeds from the right side as it would on a Maxim. I think the notation on the page from the anonymous poster insisting it be called a Browning should be removed. The pistol, as in the M712 SchnellFeuer , which was first designed in 1932, 21 years after the events of the game (If you fellas read the back of the game, it says the year is 1911) is COMPLETELY anachronistic. The videogame gun, named the C96, correct was created well before hand, but the guns fully automatic function and large ammo capability dictate it as the M712 SchnellFeuer. [GOOBER Edit.]

Even though the Mondragon was officially adopted as the standard rifle, there weren't enough issued to equip the entire Mexican Army. A more accurate choice would have been a bolt-action Mauser. I thought it bizarre that the game includes a Carcano and a rifle based on the Krag instead of a Mauser or Springfield. As for semi-autos included in the game, a Mondragon would be cool, but in my opinion there should have been a Remington Model 8 or Winchester 1907. Since the Browning shotgun was included, I thought for sure there would be a semi-auto rifle as well. No luck, but maybe in the next game? Still, the weapons choices for RDR prove to me that a reasonable amount of research was done. Well the two games seem closer than it seem, the mission in mexico it's a black ops, seriously yeah. I don't know who first had the idea but since there was a Nico Bellic lookalike in Modern warfare, and and Billy Grey lookalike in Black Ops, they certainly stole that from an other Rockstar's production, and my first thought about the Hipower was "oh maybe a 1911 prototype" (the game could have got a colt 1911, but the map says 1910 so maybe it takes place in 1910 at the beggining before passing at 1911).

But the Black ops are portrayed very differently, in Black Ops it's Cia agents with custom and anachronistic gun(they could use the time machine , to I dont know, change the vietnam to win , they picked up new weapons for relose again), Red dead the governement threats someone, and gets him to Mexico, with a mission about one of his friend -inofficially dispose of the local dictator- and he has to find weapons and help by himself.

And talking about Vietnam war, treyarch forgot the ride of Walkyrie for the chopper scene why? At least if they put Never gonna give you up that's could be cool (anachronistic but cool), but none of the above. At least Blizzard's staff saw Apocalypse now by quoting "I like Napalm smell in the morning" (and yes they work independantly from Activision so Activision Blizzard logo has no sense)

I think its safe to say that Rockstar didn't take the time to do ANY research on the weapons of the time, but i will give them credit for the FN 1903, as strange as it is when a 1911 could have been used. It's not exactly a well known design among people who know nothing of the history of firearms. It's more likely they researched the firearms, but made some poor choices as to what to include in the game. I'm not sure why so many people are objecting to the FN 1903 being in the game. It's true it should have been the Colt 1903 version, but this type of pistol was certainly a popular design and isn't out of place in this time period, and it's one of the guns that I was hoping to see in RDR. Many people are clamoring for a 1911, but the game starts in 1910 before it even existed. Although the game ends after 1911(i'm not sure as I haven't played it yet), so I suppose it could have been included. Yet, if you're so interested in being acccurate then the 1911 shouldn't be in RDR as it was so new that only the U.S. Army would have any. Plus the 1911 has been in about a million games. How many times has a colt or FN 1903 appeared in a game? The bolt action rifle was one thing that bothered me the most about RDR--no Mauser or M1903, but a Carcano and Krag-like rifle?!?! So which of the other weapons show Rockstar didn't do any research? I think the majority are fine, but of course it could have been better. What should have been included? I have no problem with the FN 1903 in the game, i just dispute its title of "High Power Pistol". And as for the Krag, I thought it was an okay choice though I would have loved a Mauser. My biggest problem was the Trap Door Springfield having four shots. I also think the game should have had a muzzle loading rifle and a true percussion revolver. A colt revolving rifle would have fit as well. The game takes place in 1911, the map is just a year old. Game designers are out to make a fun, cool game that makes sense to people with little idea of how real firearms work, not to achieve perfect historical accuracy. Weapons like the Borchardt and Krag-Jorgensen look different from "normal" guns, especially in the Old West environment. As for having unrealistic power or features, it's a way to make the game more interesting. The 1903 is a recognizable modern design that only appears at the end of the game, when powerful replacements for your previous guns appear. Making the C96 a machine pistol sets it apart from the rest of the guns and provides a portable automatic weapon. The Springfield is a hell of a lot more useful with an internal magazine instead of as a single-shot, as the buffalo rifle is already in the game and would otherwise be roughly the same. The fact that they even included such unusual weapons as the Borchardt indicates that they definitely did their homework, but you need to make concessions for fun and making sense. We'd all love to see every setting get its own extremely accurate depiction and it could probably be plenty of fun, but it's not really something for the general public that would make millions in sales. I don't think the machine gun can definitively be called a Browning. The whole receiver is wrong; it feeds from the right side and there is no bolt handle, which are features of a Maxim. I guess it's a bit late now to mention it, but just recently I played through the game using the Browning A5 and I noticed that it's a lot less powerful than the other shotguns. Now I don't know if it was patched or if it was always that way but I'm wondering for balance reasons whether R* intentionally made it a 20 gauge version of the A5. What do you guys think?

I don't know about on 360, but in the PS3 version, there ''are'' power differences between the Winchester, Henry, and Evans, with the Henry having a big boost over both. I've used all three extensively, the Winchester taking 2-3 shots in the upper torso to kill and the Evans 3-4, while the Henry wins out being a consistent one-shot kill. From my experience, it's clearly the best repeater in the game as any advantage provided by the Winchester's faster reload speed and Evans' higher ammo capacity is negligible at best compared to the big power boost of the Henry. * Beretta pistol has a cross-bolt safety (such safety can be seen on the image of Beretta Model 70 with Longer Barrel on Model 70 page) that was used only for a short time before is was replaced with thumb-activated frame-mounted safety that is seen on the most Model 70s. So the screen gun is an early version - just a tivia but worth noting, as I think.
* A very strange looking Luger. The cylinder over the trigger makes me think that this is a revolver inside Luger-style "skin". Maybe I'm wrong, but look in ''[[Big_Heat,_The#Iver_Johnson_.32_Revolver|The Big Heat]]'' with the Iver Johnson revolver mocked up as Luger. This gun seems to look similar, doesn't it? Again, I'm not sure.
* The pistol, IDed as FN Model 1910, is a different model. It has raised sights that doesn't exist on FN Model 1910.
* The pistol, IDed as Ruby Pistol, is a different model. It has an external hammer, seen on Colt wa Ore no passport pistol 4 4.
* The rifle, IDed as Remington Nylon 66, is a different model. The Nylon 66 has tubular underbarrel magazine, not the box magazine and the screen gun.
* The rifle, IDed as Mossberg 146-B, is a different model. The Mossberg 146-B has tubular underbarrel magazine, and the screen gun lacks it.

:I think that 30 rounders were first available in late 1970, and the M203 was adopted in 1969 so slightly earlier. I think they were very limited in 69 though, it would be another year or two before they started being widespread. However the film is set in 1973 so there is no anachronism with either though. I'm not sure, but i think the 30 rounders were mainly used with the carbines, so still having the 20 rounders in 1973 on M16s as seen here would probably be more common. On the topic of M16s, did anybody manage to keep track of what was going on with the SP1s/M16A1s? I couldn't decide if they were a random mix and everybody kept their own, or if they were randomly switching throughout the film. :I looked through some of the trailers and B roll footage that they released, and you actually see it a couple of times, but you wouldn;t really know it and it is still totally unrealistic that somebody would be able to carry it like this. If you look at this bit of the B-roll footage, the character in the background has a canvas bag that you can just see the spade grips sticking out of:[[ File:Kong B roll 0001.jpg |thumb|600px|none|]]You can also see this bag earlier in the film when the two groups meet back up, but at this point it looks more like an empty sack that is not actually holding anything. There are many shots that are meant to show the whole group that he isn't in though, he comes and goes like a few other cannon fodder soldiers. Nobody else seems to be carrying any of the parts though (somebody else can be seen with 2 ammo cans) so must still be carrying the receiver, barrel and tripod, so it is 128 lbs. Even if we imagine that he could somehow carry it or they are sharing the weight, the M2HB actually takes a few minuted to put together as in this incarnation the barrel isn't quick change and needs to be head-spaced before it can be fired. The page says that the ball turret and these guns were apparently salvaged from a B-17. However, Marlow specifically says that he and Ikari began building the boat from parts of their aircraft, a P-51 and a Zero, and a B-29 that crashed on the beach. Obviously the ball turret can't come from the fighters and the B-29 only had remote control turrets and a tail gunner, not the ball turret seen in the movie. Are we just assuming that the ball turret came from a B-17? The B-24, which used the same turret, was the predominant heavy bomber in the Pacific so if the turret was scrounged from an aircraft other than the three Marlow mentions, it is more like to have come from a Liberator than a B-17. Since Marlow only mentions those three aircraft, though, I'd say this was a goof.

::Well it 'could' be an M16A3 in a foreign movie armory. I know that Colt sold the same variants they sold to the Military, to foreign countries. But we tend to refer to all M16A2s on films shot in the U.S. as M16A2s, since they are pretty much all full auto conversions of semi auto guns or military guns purchased from Colt via Police/LEO sales or Title II mfg (note: I asked CW if they had any 3 round burst guns, and it seems that no one has 3-round burst guns in Hollywood), so even receivers that are MARKED M16A2 "Property of U.S. Govt" are converted to fire full auto burst. I tend to offer the option of an A3 if the film was armored outside of the U.S. But a film within the U.S. will have a converted gun no matter what and I have never seen an A3 marked gun in the U.S. movie industry (but of course I haven't seen every gun in the U.S. movie arsenal but it's a pretty good rule of thumb so far). It's weird seeing one in a movie made in 2002. Sure, the Aimpoint CompM2 was still pretty new then, but it's hard not to think of OEGs as difficult-to-use antiques. They're pretty much useless for long-aiming but they work well enough for quick acquisition (an ocular effect called 'phoria' makes the red dot move around after a little while. it's what happens when the binocular effect is broken and the eyes are basically looking at two different objects) and they don't need batteries. That weird little clear bit on the front gathers light to illuminate the dot. They're also the weird looking sights on Star Wars blasters. The revolvers used by the bank robbers at the beginning of the movie are not S&W model 29. The profile of the frame, the front sight and (in the pic where it can be seen) the cylinder release latch look more like a Colt King Cobra. However, if I remember well the movie, the guns lacked the heavy, full underlug barrel of the King Cobra. My guess is that these are blank guns.

So it was announced there will be over 50 weapons in the game, which means there should be quite a large selection of new firearms to use. The interesting thing is that the available screenshots and video only show weapons that were already in the previous game. Other than the mention of the "Lancaster Varmint Rifle", Rockstar have given no indication what the new firearms will be. There are quite a few possibilities. Winchester 1887, Burgess, & Spenser shotguns. For rifles, Winchester 1895, Savage 1899, Remington-Keene, Remington-Lee, Winchester-Hotchkiss, Mauser, Winchester 1890 and Colt Lightning. I'm not sure which pistols could be added, but the Colt Lightning, Remington 1875/1890, and Browning 1899 are possible choices. Maybe we could even see the 1895 Colt Machine gun? Of course a portion of the new weapons will be for melee, but I would think the majority will be firearms. The FN getting axed isn't really a surprise but I thought the others would be carried over. So I saw a youtube video where a Old West enthusiast brought up seven different things he noticed in RDR II, and how accurate they were to the time (mainly focusing on clothing, the holster, weapons, and saddles.)

I brought up the fact that the Winchester 1866 seems to be an odd choice as the primary repeater in 1899. And I got a reply saying that actually, most repeaters were incredibly expensive for most people, and that people still carried percussion rifles or revolvers by the turn of the 20th century. I found that rather hard to believe. Percussion caps, gunpowder and lead are cheaper than loaded cartridges and always have been, then there's the question of where to get more ammo when you need it. Just about any store dealing in firearms or general goods would stock lead, powder and caps not your new cartridge that might fail commercially or even stop being produced as did happen to a number of them over time. Lastly the percussion guns were readily available and cheap due to their continuous production since the 1830's, due to that unless you felt a need to own the latest thing and the financial means to do so you'd use what you had until it could not be used anymore.

:Cartridge firearms were introduced in the 1850's but weren't successful until the late 1860's early 1870's by 1900 most people could afford to have a cartridge gun, most not all, the poor generally had to use what was cheapest and easiest to get and supply ammunition for. Kind of ties in with this discussion. Many American ammo companies manufactured black powder cartridges into the 1930's! To include some old cartridges such as the 50 caliber Spencer and the Winchester 44 Rimfire. It was the demands of World War II that brought about the demise of those old cartridges. After the war ended shooters wanted newer calibers and black powder became the domain of hobbyists. But ,until then, there were still many older firearms being carried and used by everyday people. My gun safe is full of firearms that were made over sixty and seventy years ago. I found it annoying really fast that your character no longer auto cocks a gun after every shot. This made me shoot twice during fights and actually has been throwing off my aim. I understand how in the real world, most of these guns are lever actions, and pump action that requires you to actually do it, but this is a game and I don't remember the previous Red Dead doing this. I also understand why long guns not chambered back in the day would be a standard practice but why in the hell is the bolt action, a very advanced rifle, of the period not already cocked when it has all 5 rounds loaded? They animate you working the bolt on the Krag every time you take it off your shoulder. I'm not going to even mention the absurdly quick reloads, but I noticed some animation errors on first person view:
*The Mauser C96 having a double action trigger on the first trigger pull. As I am aware, this should not be possible.
*The animation for using the Spencer repeater seems reversed. I thought you had to cock the hammer before racking the lever, now it's vice versa.
*When operating the 1960 Henry the character must hold the carbine very gingerly, since he doesn't seem to really move his hand to make room for the follower.
*The double barrel shotguns, shortened or not, seem to have ejectors. (Anachronistic?)
*If the Auto-5 wasn't anachronistic enough, it has a push button safety on the rear of the trigger guard instead of the early suicide safety, the magazine cutoff is wrongly modeled, a ribbed barrel that was introduced in the 1920s is available as customization option and it has the speed-load mechanism from the 1950s and onwards.
*Somehow slowly turning the wheel won't fire the gatling gun, but once you crank it fast enough it starts firing.

::The thing that is pulled out of the Spencer stock is not a conventional tube magazine. It's more like a follower. The rounds are loaded into the stock individually, and then the follower would be inserted back into the stock in order to push the cartridges from the stock into the chamber. The game depicts the way that cavalrymen in the civil war would've loaded it. They carried several tubes full of seven rounds and they would remove the follower from the stock, dump the rounds from the tube into the stock and replace the follower. I believe that the Ingram used by Claire in the GamesCom 2018 Demo is a Model 10, not an 11. I have here two screen shots as evidence.

First, as can be seen here, the ejection port seems to be both rather large, and with a very narrow distance to the back of the receiver. I believe this to be a good indication as to the model.
